"Janet."

"Mm," the doctor said, looking up from her newspaper. Sam hesitated then, picking her words carefully. "Sam, did you get a haircut?"

"Huh?" Sam asked, confused. "No. No, I'm...."

"I thought it was longer this morning."

"I have a question to ask," Sam said. "And it's kind of personal."

"Go ahead."

"Hypothetically... if I were to ask you... out..."

Janet blinked. "I'd love to."

"Romantically."

Janet touched Sam's hand. "I'd really like it, Sam."

Sam nodded. "Thank you." She stood, brushing Janet's hand once more, and headed back to the quantum mirror.

This world was extremely close to their own. She just hoped both of the Janets felt the same.
