Summary: Sam and Janet deal with the consequences of being caught.

Daniel moved through the house, weaving through the maze of boxes that lined the hallways. The furniture had already been loaded onto a truck that was already on it's way to New York. A few photos still adorned the walls; most of them portraying Sam and Janet, all of them with Cassandra somewhere in the picture. He paused, examining one picture taken at one of Cassandra's soccer games. Sam and Janet were in the foreground of the picture with the field in the background. Sam was sticking her tongue out at the person with the camera, her arm wrapped around Janet's shoulders. The doctor was smiling, pressing her lips to Sam's cheek. At the time, everyone who saw the picture had assumed it was just women having fun. Now, it was painfully obvious what the truth was.

He found her in the bedroom, packing a box of clothes. From the look of the closets, she was almost done. He rapped quietly on the doorframe, clearing his throat before stepping inside.

Janet looked up, eyes wide. Her cheeks were wet with tears, her eyes red and puffy. Daniel knew she hadn't slept the night before and silently wondered when she had last allowed herself to rest. She brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear and said, "Hi, Daniel."

"I... just wondered if you needed a hand loading up your... your car."

She shook her head. "No. I'll, uh, I'll manage by myself." She laughed mirthlessly. "Looks like I'll have to learn to manage by myself, huh?" She brushed her cheek with the back of one hand as she folded a sweater to place in the suitcase.

Daniel approached the bed. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"No. I don't."

Daniel sighed. "You know people will miss you like hell at the SGC. A couple of them are even considering a transfer since you won't be the Chief Medical Officer anymore."

She remained silent, shutting the suitcase and searching for another one. Daniel picked one up off his side of the bed and handed it to her. She accepted it without a word, folding another t-shirt.

"Sam... Sam wanted to come. She practically begged me to bring her."

Janet paused, her hands trembling as she tried to hold the shirt. Finally, she brought it to her face and inhaled. Quietly, she said, "This shirt was Sam's... she liked to sleep in it."

Daniel nodded. "Jack figured it would be best if Sam didn't come see you."

"Of course he did," Janet whispered.

He picked up a blouse, carefully folding it and placing it in the suitcase for her. She shook her head, still holding Sam's nightshirt to her face. "It was really all my fault. I was the one who... couldn't contain myself. I was the one who pulled her into my office."

Daniel nodded, deciding to just let her vent. He picked up a pair of slacks and started folding them. Three days ago, General Hammond had needed a physical report to clear a certain Airman for duty. He had entered Dr. Fraiser's office... and stumbled on quite a scene. Sam's black t-shirt was pulled up over her chest. Janet was poised behind the blonde, her hands cupping the major's full breasts in a decidedly unprofessional manner. Not to mention the fact that Sam had her neck craned back and her lips fastened to the doctor's hungry mouth. Neither had initially seen the commanding officer, but his bellowing 'What the HELL is going on here?' pretty much shattered the mood.

After a long debate with O'Neill, Samantha Carter received a slap on the wrist: she was allowed to stay with SG-1 due to her experience and expertise, but had been busted down to captain for blatantly breaking regulations. No arguing, however, could help Dr. Fraiser. To Hammond, someone had to pay for this indescretion. Janet was being sent to a base in New York, stripped of nearly all of her rank. Everyone at her new base would be a superior to her. But the worst part came later...

Daniel closed the suitcase and moved to the door, looking down the hall. "Um... you know that Cassandra is all set up at my place," he said, changing the subject. "I think she's pretty much in denial right now. I'm not looking forward to when it finally hits her."

"Yeah... but Jack and Teal'c will... will be here for her. And, of course, Sam will still be close by. You guys will do..." her voice cracked, "do a good job raising her." She punched her mattress, collapsing onto it. "God DAMN it, It's not fair! I raised her... I... she calls me 'Mom.' It's not fair that I have to give her up."

"I know, Janet. I know. Hammond feels that it would be best to keep Cassandra close to the Stargate for security reasons. Sending her to New York with you isn't an option."

Janet dropped onto the bed, holding her face. "God... why does love always end like this for me? I thought I loved my husband and we get divorced and it almost completely ruins me financially. Now, I find someone I love with all my heart and my entire life is torn away from me in a matter of days. Why do I even love?"

Daniel moved to her side, wrapping an arm around her. "You have a big heart, Janet. Love isn't a bad thing... mankind just makes it a bad thing sometimes."

"I loved her, Daniel. And that's what's wrong. I loved *her* and I still love her. There's no doubt in my mind about that. If I had fallen for Colonel O'Neill, Hammond would have swept the whole damned thing under the rug. But since we're both women..."

Daniel nodded, keeping quiet for the time being.

"It's so unfair," the doctor whispered.

"I know," Daniel said, stroking her hair. "I know."

She turned to him, laying her head on his shoulder and sobbing. "God, Daniel... we said we'd never do anything on the base. We were both so... so careful about that. But, because I missed her when she was offworld, I made one mistake..." She wiped her cheeks, trying to stop her crying. "I suppose I should get going... I... I'm due in New York in three days. That's quite a drive..."

Daniel stood. "You're driving?"

"I can't check all of this stuff at the airport. And someone has to be here when the moving men come for the rest," she said, indicating the many boxes and suitcases. "I might as well just drive. It'll give me time to think about... things."

He shook his head. "I can't let you drive anywhere in this condition, Janet. Luckily, I called a cab."

"A cab? When did you--"

He interrupted. "I think the driver is outside. Driver?"

Sam meekly stepped into the doorway, hugging herself. Her eyes were as red as Janet's, tears still wet on her cheeks. "Did someone call a cab?"

Janet's eyes widened as she rose off the bed. "Sam! I thought... Daniel said all that stuff about..."

"I told Daniel to pretend I was back at the base," Sam said softly. "I wanted... I needed to know if you were upset about being caught or ashamed for loving me."

Janet closed the distance between them, cupping Sam's face in her hands. "Ashamed? God, no, Sam. I love you with all my heart. New York won't change that. We can write."

"Try to stop me," Sam said, tears streaking down her face. She leaned forward, capturing Janet's lips with her own.

Daniel's eyes widened and he jumped up, moving towards the door. "Personal moment. I should... ah... yeah." He ducked into the hallway, his departure going unnoticed by the lovers. Sam moved her hands to the front of Janet's blouse, carefully undoing the buttons and slipping the material off her tanned shoulders. Janet pulled back. "Sam, maybe we... maybe we shouldn't..."

"I'm about to be separated from you... for God knows how long... I have to do this."

Janet kissed Sam's cheeks, tasting the salty tracks of her tears. "Okay, sweetheart," she whispered. "Okay." Janet backed up until she contacted the bed, lowering herself to the mattress. Sam stood, beginning to undress as Janet moved the suitcases out of the way. By the time the bed was cleared, Sam was down to her panties and socks. Janet held out her hand and said, "Close enough. Come to me."

Sam straddled her lover's hips, kissing her tenderly as the brunette cupped her breasts. She pinched the blonde's nipples as each woman's tongue slipped into the other's mouth. Sam closed her eyes and pressed herself against Janet, pushing the doctor down onto the mattress. As Janet's fingers slipped under the waistband of Sam's panties, the major whispered against her lover's lips, "I don't want to let you go... I love you more than life... more than anything, Janet..."

Janet's fingers slipped along the smooth skin of Sam's buttocks, squeezing the cheeks and struggling to pull her higher. Sam rubbed herself against Janet's stomach, eager to feel every inch of the brunette one more time.

Sam began kissing along the doctor's jawline, nibbling at her earlobe. Janet opened her eyes, then gasped, "Daniel! Did Daniel leave?!"

The blonde chuckled, sucking on the brunette's earring. "Relax, babe... he got flustered when we kissed."

Janet turned her head, capturing Sam's lips with her own as she rolled over. She pinned Sam to the mattress, raising up and reaching behind herself to unzip her skirt. Once the material came loose, she rolled to one side just enough to remove the skirt. Sam ran her fingers over her lover's bare thighs, skimming up to trace the patch of dark pubic hair that the doctor kept impeccably trimmed. Janet fell onto the mattress, reclining on her side and propping one leg up to allow her lover more room.

Sam bit her lip as she slipped her fingers down, moving them across the brunette's slick lips. Janet gasped, resting her head on the pillow. Sam rearranged herself on the mattress, moving her head so that she was a mere breath away from her lover's sex. Using her ring and index fingers, she spread the lips of the doctor's labia and prodded the tiny nub of her clitoris with her middle finger.

Janet moaned, rolling her head back on her shoulders.

Sam had a bird's-eye view of her lover's center and she licked her lips as she leaned forward. The doctor knew what was coming and reached down, running her hands through the long blonde hair as Sam made contact.

The blonde kissed Janet's pussy like it was her mouth, fixing her lips over it and gently thrusting with her tongue. She was rewarded with a fresh flow of juices from deep within her lover, which she swallowed hungrily. She continued toying with Janet's clitoris as she kissed and sucked, prodding the doctor to a quick orgasm. Janet held tightly to the sheets, her breathing becoming ragged and punctuated with sobs. Finally, Sam was rewarded with copious amounts of sweet, tangy nectar from her lover.

Janet's climax was too much for Sam to take, as it often was. When she raised her head for a kiss, her cheeks, lips and chin were covered with Janet's cum. The doctor lovingly cleaned the blonde's face, taking extra care to clean her this time. By the time she was finished, both women were crying softly.

Sam pulled the blankets up over their nude bodies, snuggling against each other. They held hands under the blanket, just looking into each other's eyes. Finally, Janet spoke. "You're really going to drive me to New York?"

"If it's what you want."

"I want," Janet said, smiling. "I definitely want."

Sam smiled, combing several loose strands out of the doctor's face. "I can't believe that we're going to be 3,000 miles apart. I don't... I don't know if I can live with that."

Janet lifted Sam's hand, brushing her lips over the knuckles. She then flattened her palm over Sam's chest, feeling the drumming of her lover's heart. "I'll always be right here with you, Sam. The Air Force can move us apart physically, but I will always... always... be yours."

They kissed one more time, snuggling together. Sam sighed. "If we fall asleep... we may not have time to drive to New York."

"So I'll be late," Janet whispered. "Maybe they'll discharge me." They kissed once more before they fell asleep in each other's arms one final time.
