Janet crinkled her nose. "Ew. My ex-husband called me that. Which also eliminates pumpkin, honeybuns and hot stuff."

They were sitting on the couch, Janet's legs draped over Sam's thighs. Sam was lightly massaging her best friend's feet, trying to find the right pet name for her.

"Well, I had a boyfriend who called me puppy," Sam offered.

"Uh, no. And no on kitten and any other animal names you think up."

Sam sighed and smiled at Janet. "You're not making this easy, ya know. What are we supposed to call each other?"

Janet shrugged. "How about Sam and Janet?"

Sam brightened. "Perfect."
