Sam blinked her eyes and lifted her head, looking at the desk before her in confusion. Nestled in the crook of her elbow was the phone receiver. She lifted it and brought it to her ear, expecting a dial tone. "Hello?"

"Hi," Janet replied.

"Hey," Sam said, a bit surprised. "Did you call... did I hang up last night?"

"No," Janet said.

"You listened to me sleep?"

There was a slight, embarrassed pause at the other end. "Yeah. Is that okay?"

Sam put her head back down, smiling and picturing Janet on the other end. "Yeah. Yeah, it's very okay."
