Prologue

"You guys look happier than usual," Lily remarked on seeing Sam and Brooke climb out of Brooke's car. "Anything happen that I should know about? No, wait. Let me guess. You… you both went clubbing and found yourselves new boyfriends, and you spent the night making sweet love to them under the stars… far away from each other, of course."

Lily was in hysterics at her wit. Brooke and Sam exchanged looks.

"Uh, not exactly," Brooke said.

"Actually, not even close," Sam went on, her face turning a little red. Lily stopped laughing and looked at them.

"Well, what?"

"It was like this," Brooke began…

The Story

Brooke was bored. Actually, she was incredibly bored. In fact, she was so mind numbingly bored, if something didn't happen soon, she was going to go postal.

"I'm so bored, so bored, so very, very bored," Brooke sang softly to herself, to the tune of the famous Sesame Street song "I'm So Hungry." Pleased with the way it sounded to her, she proceeded to make up the rest of the lyrics.

"I'm so bored
So bored
So very, very bored
I'm so bored
So bored
So very, very bored
I want something new to do
Or someone to talk to
Hell, even Mary Cherry would do
I'm bored…"

She finished the last note on a much-exaggerated flourish. Sighing happily, she took stock of the situation. Sure, she was still bored, but now she had a nifty song to sing to tell the world of her predicament. She sang it again, wondering if she could work out a dance routine to go with it. She really was bored.

In the middle of a twirl Brooke saw Sam enter the room, carrying a shopping bag. She bounded over to her, deciding as she bounded that perhaps it would be a better idea if her new song and dance routine stayed inside her head for now. Or forever.

"Sammy!" Brooke bubbled. "Hiya, Sammy. How are you? What you been doing? Where you been? Whatcha got?"

Sam was mildly worried. Brooke was acting like a four year old. But it was more than a little adorable, so she let it slide.

"Well, you remember we read Harry Potter ages ago?" Sam asked. Brooke nodded. "I got it on DVD to watch, since there's obviously nothing else to do. And I got munchies."

"Yay!" Brooke crowed, waiting to see where Sam sat before settling herself right next to the brunette. They started up the DVD.

The next two hours were lost in a sea of awe at the special effects, tears at the scene with Harry and the mirror of Erised and held breath at the end sequence. It was a good movie. By the end of the movie, both bags of chips and all the popcorn had been eaten.

"So, special features?" Brooke asked. Sam obediently turned the DVD player to the special features menu, and they proceeded to go through them.

"Okay, Gringotts. Let's get some money, Sam, because we're going to need it if we go to Diagon Alley. Everything costs money."

"Okay… where's the key?"

"What key?"

"The goblin says to Hagrid, does Mr Harry Potter have his key? We need the key."

"Okay, key."

They must have spent the better part of an hour looking for the damn key. And it was nowhere to be found. Sam was sure for a while that the key must be in the pocket of Hagrid's coat, because that's where it was in the movie, but it wasn't there. They were starting to get frustrated, and went back to the main screen.

"Argh!" Brooke shrieked.

"What?" Sam shrieked back.

"I found it! There it is, look!" Brooke was pointing to the sign that advertised the goblin back itself. And sure enough, there the key was, hanging inconspicuously from the sign. Hidden in plain sight.

"Argh! You found it!" Sam screamed. Yes, they were getting a little over excited, but that's what boredom and sitting in one place for three hours will do for you.

They jumped up and started jumping up and down shrieking at each other, partly because they'd finally found the key, and partly just to be moving after so long. They hugged mid jump, and then fell back to earth with a bump. Still holding each other slightly, they pulled back and looked each other in the eye. Then they kissed.

The kiss started out gently. It was the smallest brushing of lips, more like dozens of tiny kisses all merged into one. But as Sam stepped in closer, and Brooke pulled her against her body, their lips touched more firmly, and the kiss began to be something much more than it had been.

Passion grew. Arms found their way around necks, hands brushed over curves, lips parted and tongues duelled. It was, in all regards, a spectacular kiss. And when Sam and Brooke pulled out of it, and looked each other in the face again, there was really nothing to say. Except

"Whoa."

"Whoa indeed. That was a definite whoa moment. Whoa was achieved. And I think"

"Shut up, Sam."

Brooke began this next kiss. And this was a kiss that took them upstairs. It was a kiss that found them in Brooke's bedroom, on Brooke's bed, with Sam groping Brooke, and with Brooke groping Sam.

To preserve embarrassment, the next part has been edited. But trust the narrator, there was something of SUBSTANCE to be edited out.

Which brings them to now.

Epilogue

"This is why you're so darn chipper today?" Lily asked, incredulously. "Because you got some, together? Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against the two of you being together, it's just…"

"Just what?" Sam asked indignantly.

"Yeah, what?" Brooke chimed in, her tone of voice identical to Sam's.

"You got together over Harry Potter? Over Harry-Freaking-Potter?!"
