Chapter Six

“Do I even wanna know why you two were lip-locking?” Nicole asked.

“I’mma ‘bout to have an asthma attack,” Mary Cherry said.

“Mary Cherry, you don’t have asthma,” Nicole said. “Now, what were you two doing?”

“We… well… Sam, answer that,” Brooke said.

“I, uh, don’t you know how to knock?” Sam asked Nicole.

“This is a public bathroom,” Nicole said. “Please, don’t tell me you two are together. Brooke, since when are you gay? Did that date with Harrison make you hate men or something? Don’t let that one date scar you for life.”

“Yeah Brookie, all you need to do is watch some Brad Pitt movies and you’ll be back to normal,” Mary Cherry said.

“There’s nothing wrong with me,” Brooke said.

“Are you two dating or not?” Nicole asked.

That’s a good question. Sam thought.

“Sam, can I talk to Mary Cherry and Nicole alone?” Brooke asked.

“Yeah,” Sam left the Novak.

“So what’s going on?” Nicole asked.

Brooke sat down and sighed. “Yesterday I almost kissed Sam but it didn’t happen and I really wanted that kiss so yeah, that’s what happened.”

“So you’re just experimenting?” Nicole asked.

“No, I think I actually might-” Brooke got cut off by Mary Cherry.

“Don’t say it!” Mary Cherry said. “God will strike you dead where you stand!”

“I really like Sam,” Brooke said ignoring MC. “There’s just something special about her.”

“You know the world is coming to an end when the most popular girl in school falls for the most unpopular person in school who happens to also be a girl,” Nicole said. “I need a shot of tequila… or a dozen.”

“You guys probably need time to absorb this information so I’m just going to go,” Brooke said. “We’ll talk later if you want.” Brooke left the Novak and Nicole turned to Mary Cherry.

“Even though Brookie is… might be getting with Sam she’s still our friend and we’ll have to learn to deal with whatever choice she makes,” Nicole said.

“That’s very big of ya Nic,” Mary Cherry said. “I guess I can accept it too.”

“I still need my tequila shots,” Nicole said. “And a trip to the spa. And I deserve a new fur coat for being so understanding. As a matter of fact, I‘m skipping the rest of the school day. Are you going to join me?”

“Let’s go,” Mary Cherry said.

Sam was stopped in the hallway by Ms.Lennox while she was headed to the cafeteria.

“Have you started the article yet?” Ms.Lennox asked.

“Not yet,” Sam answered.

“I need it in by next week,” Ms.Lennox said.

“And you’ll have it by then,” Sam said. “Don’t worry.”

“Alright,” Ms.Lennox left to the teacher’s lounge.

Sam went to the journalist’s room to start her article. She could write some of it without Brooke’s help. Several minutes after she entered the room she heard a knock on the door. “Come in.”

Brooke entered the room and closed the door behind her. “Hey.”

“Hi,” Sam smiled. “Did you take care of Nicole and Mary Cherry?”

Brooke nodded and sat down in Sam’s lap. “They’re in shock but they’ll come around.”

“That’s good,” Sam said.

Brooke began to play with Sam’s hair and Sam wasn’t sure what to do or say. I guess we’re dating… would she be sitting in my lap if we weren’t? Possibly. Hm, should I ask? No, I’ll just wait and see what happens. I hope Harrison won’t hate me. He’ll get over it. Lips on her neck brought Sam out of her reverie

“What are you doing?” Sam asked.

“Isn’t it obvious?” Brooke asked.

“Yeah but… here?” Sam asked.

“Yeah, why not?” Brooke asked.

“Cause anyone can come walking through that door like Nicole and Mary Cherry did while we were in the Novak,” Sam said.

“Everyone’s in the cafeteria,” Brooke said as she kissed Sam.

Sam allowed the kiss to take place and just prayed no one would see them. After ten minutes of an intense make-out session Sam and Brooke broke apart.

“Lunch is almost over,” Brooke said. “I should go.”

“Yeah, you should get something to eat,” Sam said.

“I’m not hungry,” Brooke said.

“Brooke, I’ve noticed you haven’t been eating like you should,” Sam said.

“I’ve been eating,” Brooke said. “You just haven’t seen me.”

“I’m worried about you,” Sam said.

“I didn’t come in here for you to question me about my eating habits,” Brooke snapped.

“I just want you to take care of yourself,” Sam said.

“Sam, we are not talking about this,” Brooke said getting off of the brunette’s lap.

“I don’t want you hurting yourself,” Sam went on.

Brooke rolled her eyes. “I’m healthy.”

“Healthy to you isn’t healthy to me,” Sam said.

The two girls stayed silent until Brooke spoke up. “Thanks for caring, but I’m fine.”

Sam nodded and stood up so she was in front of Brooke. “So… are we like dating?”

Brooke smiled and kissed Sam on the forehead. “Yeah. And we’re not telling the parentals are we?”

“What kind of question is that?” Sam asked. “They’d kill us. Besides, this thing between us is new. We should wait awhile… a long while before telling them.”

“I’m in no hurry to tell them,” Brooke said.

Sam looked at her watch and sighed. “You should get going.”

Brooke gave Sam a hug and blew her a kiss as she left. Sam sat back down on the swivel chair and smiled to herself. This has got to be the best day ever. I could do a happy dance right now, but I’m not going to embarrass myself. Well, there’s no one in here. Sam hopped out of the chair and started dancing and singing a Michelle Branch song. “I recognize the way you make me feel. It's hard to think that

you might not be real. I sense it now, the water's getting deep. I try to wash the pain away from me, away fr-hmph. Sam had slipped on a pencil and landed flat on her back. “Ow, I am so glad no one was in here to witness that.”

Chapter Seven

Brooke was in Sam’s room answering questions for the paper.

“Why do you like cheerleading?” Sam asked.

“It’s fun,” Brooke answered. “I enjoy getting the crowd hyped up before a football game.”

Sam was scribbling down what Brooke said when Mike entered the room. “Jane and I are going out for awhile. We left money for you to order pizza on the kitchen table.”

“Alright,” Brooke said.

“Don’t kill each other while we’re gone,” Mike said.

“Don’t worry,” Sam said.

Mike shut the door and Brooke quickly moved on top of Sam. “We have the house all to ourselves.”

“They aren’t even gone yet,” Sam pointed out.

Brooke pulled off her shirt and Sam looked at her in awe.

“I-we-uh-this is too soon,” Sam said. “We just got together.”

“Don’t worry I’ll be gentle,” Brooke placed Sam’s hand on her stomach and Sam moved her hand idly on the blonde’s stomach.

“I’ve never done this before,” Sam said. “You’re more experienced than I am.”

“You’ll be fine,” Brooke pulled off Sam’s shirt.

“What if I do something wrong?” Sam asked. “I think we should wait.”

Brooke moved her head so her lips were near Sam’s right ear. “Do you really want to wait?” She asked huskily.

Sam answered by kissing Brooke fiercely.

About an hour later Sam woke up and Brooke was still asleep. She got out of the bed, put her clothes on, and went into the bathroom. Sam looked at herself in the mirror as she thought. I’m not going to say that wasn’t good because it was amazing. It’s just that I wasn’t ready and I felt pressured into sleeping with Brooke. I know I should’ve said something more. I just didn’t want to displease Brooke. Brooke entered the bathroom and smiled at Sam.

“What are you doing?” Brooke asked.

“Just thinking,” Sam said.

Brooke went behind Sam and wrapped her arms around her waist. “Do you regret what we did?”

“No,” Sam lied. “Do you?”

“Of course not,” Brooke smiled. “Are you getting ready to take a shower?”

Sam nodded.

“Do you want company?” Brooke asked slyly.

“No,” Sam said. “The rentals could come back soon.”

“It’ll be a quick shower,” Brooke nuzzled Sam’s neck.

“Brooke,” Sam said sternly.

“Fine,” Brooke said moving away from Sam. “I’ll be in my room.”

Sam sighed and turned the shower on making sure the water was hot. She always liked the feel of the hot water burning her skin.

Next day at Kennedy High…

“You’ve slept together already?” Carmen whispered loudly.

“You guys wasted no time,” Lily added.

“I didn’t want to but she wanted to so we did,” Sam explained.

“If you didn’t want to take the next step so soon why didn’t you say anything?” Lily said.

“I did say something,” Sam said. “But she was looking so hot and-”

“Doable?” Lily finished for her.

“Yeah,” Sam sighed.

“Yo,” Harrison said walking up to his friends. “How’s everyone.”

“Good,” Carmen said. “How are you?”

“I’m doing alright,” Harrison answered.

Josh walked up and gave Lily a kiss. “Hey Sam, Nicole told me you and Brooke have a thing going on. She saw you kissing in the bathroom. If it’s true I‘m totally cool with it. It‘s actually kinda hot.”

Lily glared at her boyfriend.

“What?” Josh asked. “I was just being supportive.”

“Is that true?” Harrison asked Sam.

“See what had happened was we were talking and then this thing almost happened and then yesterday in the Novak it did happen,” Sam explained.

“Sam, you knew I liked Brooke!” Harrison yelled. “I liked her way before you ever did. I can‘t believe you would do this to me.”

“What’s going on?” Brooke asked walking up to her friends.

“You’d rather date Sam than date me,” Harrison said. “I’ve liked you for the longest time Brooke. Why are you with Sam? You’re supposed to hate each other.”

“I’m sorry,” Brooke said. “I just don’t’ see you as boyfriend material.”

Harrison punched the nearest locker and stormed off.

“What’s your drama?” Nicole yelled to Harrison as he walked by her.

“He found out about me and Sam,” Brooke answered.

“Oh,” Nicole said. “He’ll get over it. He’s a big boy.”

“She knows about you two?” Carmen asked.

“Yeah,” Sam said. “I forgot to call you yesterday. Sorry.”

“It’s okay,” Carmen said. “You were preoccupied.”

“Well, congrats to your new found relationship,” Josh smiled.

“How’d you find out?” Brooke asked.

“Nicole,” Josh answered.

“Who else did you tell?” Brooke asked Nicole.

“Just him,” Nicole replied. “I figured he’d find out eventually.”

“And you’re okay with this?” Brooke asked Josh.

“Yep,” Josh nodded.

“And you Nicole?” Sam asked.

“I’m okay with it too,” Nicole said. “Me and Mary Cherry went to a spa, went shopping, got drunk, and came to terms with it.”

“Hey y’all,” Mary Cherry said as she walked up in her new fur coat.

“Do you really need to wear that?” Lily asked. “It’s not even cold.”

“It’s all about fashion lil’ Lily,” Mary Cherry said.

“Well your fashion sense sucks,” Lily said.

“Ha, and yours is better?” Nicole laughed. “Kids are so funny nowadays. The popular will always dress better than you hand me down wearing freaks.”

“How’d we go from talking about Brooke and Sam to talking about clothes?” Josh asked.

“I’m leaving before I have to hurt someone,” Nicole said. “Let’s go Mary Cherry. Are you coming Brooke? Josh?”

“Bye,” Brooke said to Sam. “I’ll see you later okay?”

“Okay,” Sam said.

“See ya later babe,” Josh gave Lily a kiss and left.

“Do you want us to talk to Harrison for you?” Carmen asked.

“That’d be great,” Sam said. “Thanks.”

Lily and Carmen went to find Harrison and Sam decided to go to class early.

Chapter Eight

Physics Class…

Sam and Brooke were trying to get Harrison’s attention but he kept ignoring them.

“Why is he being so difficult?” Sam asked Brooke.

“Throw something at him,” Brooke suggested.

“No, you throw something at him,” Sam said.

“Ms.McQueen and Ms.McPherson, do you have a problem?” Bio Glass asked.

“No Sir,” Sam and Brooke said simultaneously.

“I’m sorry to have to do this to you Ms.McQueen but you and Ms.Pherson have detention after school.”

Sam and Brooke kept quiet for the rest of class. When the bell rang Sam quickly made her way over to Harrison.

“Please talk to me,” Sam begged.

Harrison turned to Sam. “I have nothing to say to you.”

Sam watched as Harrison walked away from her.

“No luck?” Brooke asked as she approached Sam.

“No,” Sam replied.

“We couldn’t get him to talk to us either,” Lily said.

“I’m going to go find Nicole and Mary Cherry,” Brooke said. “I’ll see you in detention.”

“Detention with the claw,” Carmen shuddered. “I feel sorry for you.”

“Have you and Brooke been on a date yet?” Lily asked.

“No,” Sam said. “All we really do is make out or cuddle. We talked more when we weren’t together. I feel like she’s just with me for the physical things.”

“If she just wanted the physical things wouldn’t she be with Harrison?” Carmen asked.

“Maybe she wanted to try something new,” Sam said.

“Or maybe she really likes you,” Carmen said.

“If she really liked me she would’ve asked me out on a date,” Sam said.

“You’re over analyzing things,” Carmen said.

“Maybe I am but I don’t want to get hurt,” Sam said.

“Do you want us to talk to her?” Lily asked.

“No, I’ll try to talk to her,” Sam said.

“Try?” Lily asked.

“I’m telling you all she wants to do is make out,” Sam said. “It’s hard to talk to her.”

“Well be more in control,” Carmen said.

“I turn to mush when I’m around Brooke,” Sam said.

Lily shook her head. “Talk to her.”

“I will during detention,” Sam said.

“You two have done it already? Nicole asked. “You waited forever before you slept with Josh.”

“This is different,” Brooke said.

“How?” Nicole asked.

Brooke shrugged. “I‘ve known her longer than I‘ve known anyone.”

“But you’ve hated her more than you’ve hated anyone,” Nicole added.

“There’ just a connection,” Brooke said.

“So was she any good?” Nicole asked.

“You can’t ask me something like that,” Brooke said.

“Was it her first time?” Nicole asked. “I bet you it was.”

“Nicole, stop pesterin’ Brooke will ya,” Mary Cherry said.

“What?” Nicole asked innocently. “I was just curious.”

“So when are you telling Mike and Jane about Sam?” Nicole asked.

“We’re holding off on that for awhile,” Brooke said. “They might have a heart attack if we tell them.”

“Yeah, I guess it’s better if you wait until they’re on their death beds to tell them,” Nicole said.

“I need to talk to Harrison,” Brooke said. “I’ll see you guys later.”

Harrison saw Brooke approaching his locker and put his stuff away quickly and began walking in the opposite direction. Brooke quickened her pace and caught up to the upset teen.

“Harrison,” Brooke began.

“I need time to cope with you and Sam being together,” Harrison said. “I can’t do that if everyone keeps bothering me all the damn time.”

“Jeez, calm down,” Brooke said. “I just wanted you to know that you’re hurting Sam by ignoring her.”

“Well she hurt me by dating you,” Harrison said.

“I chose her over you,” Brooke said. “It’s not like she begged me not to get with you.”

“I don’t care how you got together or who initiated what,” Harrison said. “You guys are together and I need time to deal.”

“Alright,” Brooke said. “I’ll leave you alone.”

Harrison left and Brooke took a deep breath.

“Don’t let him get to you,” Josh said as he walked over to Brooke. “He’s just has a broken heart… and ego.”

“Josh thanks for being so understanding about this,” Brooke said.

“No problem,” Josh said. “You know I’m always here for you.”

“How are you and Lily?” Brooke asked.

“We’re great,” Josh smiled. “I have to go though. I’m supposed to meet her before the bell rings.”

“Bye,” Brooke said. “I’ll see you around.”

Detention…

Brooke and Sam were sitting in the front row of their physics class while Bio Glass ate some funky looking food that made the girls want to gag.

“Okay gals, I have an upset stomach,” Bio Glass announced. “I’ll be back. Don’t try leaving.”

As soon as they were alone Sam moved so she was sitting on the table and Brooke was sitting in the chair in front of her. Brooke scooted up and wrapped her arms loosely around Sam’s waist.

“Brooke, I want to go on a date,” Sam said.

“A date?” Brooke asked. “With me?”

“We are dating,” Sam said.

“Okay, we can go on a date,” Brooke said. “Where do you want to go?”

“I don’t know,” Sam shrugged.

“Alright, we’ll talk about this later,” Brooke moved her hands up the back of Sam’s shirt. “Right now I have something else in mind.”

Argh, we’re supposed to talk about our relationship. I guess I’ll wait until we get home. Sam thought as she moved from the table to Brooke’s lap Sam bit Brooke on the neck lightly. Brooke forced Sam’s head to her lips and they kissed urgently.

“Hmmm, Bio Glass-” Sam said as she moved her lips away from Brooke’s.

“She’ll be in the bathroom for the rest of her life,” Brooke said and went back to kissing Sam.

Several minutes later Bio Glass walked back into the classroom. “Well, well, well, what do we have here?”

Sam turned her head and saw their teacher. She went back to her seat and began fidgeting.

“This is interesting,” Bio Glass grinned evilly. “McQueen and McPherson together.”

“I was just teaching Sam some new kissing techniques,” Brooke said.

Sam looked over at the blonde and raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.

“Detention equals punishment,” Bio Glass said. “It’s not for sucking face. Now write hundred times “I will not suck face in detention.”

Brooke and Sam pulled out a piece of paper and began writing.

After detention Sam and Brooke were headed towards their cars.

“What if she tells our parents?” Sam asked.

“She won’t,” Brooke said. “At least I hope she won’t.”

“This is all your fault,” Sam said.

“How’s it my fault?” Brooke asked.

“You’re the one who started the make out session,” Sam said.

“I didn’t hear you complaining,” Brooke said.

“I mentioned Bio Glass but you said she was going to be gone forever,” Sam said.

“She stayed in the restroom for a whole class period one time,” Brooke said. “I thought she’d be gone for awhile. I’m sorry.”

“I just don’t want our parents to find out,” Sam said.

“They won’t,” Brooke said.

Brooke and Sam went to their cars and headed home.

Chapter Nine

“Sam and Brooke can we talk to you,” Jane and Mike walked out of the kitchen when the girls entered the house. Sam shot a nervous glance over at Brooke who looked equally as nervous.

“Sure mom, what’s up?” Sam asked trying to keep her voice steady. Ohmygod, she knows we’re together.

“Let’s go into the living room,” Mike said.

When they reached the living room Brooke and Sam sat down on opposite ends of the couch.

“What’s going on?” Brooke asked.

“A couple of weeks ago I found out that I was… am pregnant,” Jane said.

Sam and Brooke relaxed

“Another child in the house?” Brooke asked.

“We know you two don’t really get along but you’ve been pretty nice to each other as of late,” Mike said. “I’m sure you can handle having another member in the family.”

“I am not giving up my room,” Sam said.

“Neither am I,” Brooke said.

Sam stood up. “Congrats guys.” She left and Brooke followed.

“Okay, that went well,” Mike said.

“I don’t think they care,” Jane said.

“At least they aren’t yelling about it,” Mike said.

Sam was in her room typing up her article. Ms.Lennox would have her head if she didn’t finish it in time. She figured she knew Brooke well enough to answer the questions for her. Sam had been avoiding Brooke ever since they got home. She knew she needed to talk to her; she just wasn’t sure what to say or how to start the conversation. Oh hey, are you using me for sex wasn’t really a great conversation starter. Sam finally typed the last words of her article, saved it, and shutdown her laptop. Jane and Mike were asleep and she was pretty sure Brooke was sleeping too. She really needed to talk to Brooke though. She needed to clear her mind of all these negative thoughts. The brunette got up and went over to Brooke’s room. Sam sat down on the bed and kissed Brooke lightly on the lips.

“Brooke,” Sam said as she gently shook the blonde.

“Huh?” Brooke said tiredly.

“We really need to talk,” Sam said.

“About what?” Brooke yawned.

“What are you getting out of this relationship?” Sam asked.

“You,” Brooke answered with her eyes still closed.

“All we do is make out,” Sam said. “We haven’t really been talking much. You paid more attention to me when we weren’t going out.”

“What are you saying?” Brooke opened her eyes and looked at Sam.

“Are you only with me for the physical things?” Sam asked.

“No,” Brooke said sitting up. “I’m with you for your personality too.”

“You‘re not acting like it,” Sam said.

Brooke rolled her eyes. “What do you want me to do then?”

“Forget it,” Sam said getting up. “I’m going to sleep.”

Brooke let Sam leave so she could think about things. Do I want to be with Sam? Yes. Have I been treating her right? No. So what should I do? A surprise date. Awesome. I’ll get Lily and Carmen to help me. Brooke fell asleep hoping everything between her and Sam would work out okay.

Kennedy High…

“You can’t still be mad Harrison,” Lily said. “You’re acting like a child.”

“I am not,” Harrison said. “Sam backstabbed me.”

“No one did anything to you,” Carmen said. “Would you rather Brooke me miserable and date you or happy and be with Sam?”

“Miserable and be with me,” Harrison answered.

Carmen sighed.

“Okay, I’d rather her be happy… just not with Sam,” Harrison said.

Sam saw her friends with Harrison and decided to join them. “Hi guys, can I talk to Harrison alone?”

Carmen and Lily left so Sam could talk to Harrison.

“I’m sorry okay?” Sam said. “I can’t stand you being mad at me.”

“Either you and Brooke break up or I can’t be friends with you,” Harrison said.

“Do expect to get with her if we break up?” Sam asked.

“No,” Harrison said.

“Then why do you want us to break up?” Sam asked.

“Because we’re supposed to be friends,” Harrison said. “And I’m asking you to.”

Sam glared at Harrison. “You’re such an ass. Can’t you just be happy for me?” She took off towards where Lily and Carmen went.

“What’d he say?” Lily asked when Sam reached them.

“He wants me to end it with Brooke and if I don’t he doesn’t want to be friends with me,” Sam replied.

“Jeez,” Lily said. “What are you going to do?”

“I’m not sure,” Sam said.

“Is it really that hard of a decision?” Carmen asked.

“Yes,” Sam said. “Even if Brooke and I are having our problems I really want to be with her. But I don’t want to lose Harrison. Brooke or Harrison? I don’t want to have to choose.”

“You’re going to have to,” Lily said.

“The pros and cons of breathing,” Sam sighed.

“Exactly,” Carmen agreed.

“Oh, guess what,” Sam said. “My mom’s pregnant.”

“Pregnant?” Carmen repeated. “Are you okay with that?”

“I guess,” Sam shrugged. “I haven’t really thought about it.”

“You can teach him or her how to be loving of the environment,” Lily said.

“I’d rather teach it how to be an individual,” Sam said.

The warning bell rang and the three girls made their way to class.

Physics class…

“I’m sorry I’ve been treating you badly,” Brooke said as she took her seat next to Sam. “And you’re right. We need to talk.”

“We’ll talk after school,” Sam said.

“Okay,” Brooke said. “Do you think Ms.Glass is going to embarrass us today?”

“I hope not,” Sam said.

Bio Glass entered the room when the bell rang and winked at Sam and Brooke. “Good afternoon all you trailer trash. We are not going to discuss physics today. We are going to talk about same sex relationships.”

“Oh…my…god,” Brooke whispered. “She’s going to embarrass us to death.”

Chapter Ten

“Is there anyone is this classroom who wants to admit to liking the same gender?” Bio Glass asked glancing over at Brooke and Sam. “Emory?”

“I am very straight, thank you.” Emory Dick replied.

“Emory’s just a metro-sexual,” Popita Fresh said.

“And what’s that Ms.Fresh?” Bio Glass asked.

“It’s a male who spends too much time and money on his appearance and lifestyle,” Popita answered.

Nicole began to laugh. “Emory doesn’t spend enough money on his appearance. Just look at him.”

“So everyone in here is on the straight road? Bio Glass asked as she again glanced over at Brooke and Sam.

“Everyone except you,” Nicole answered.

Bio Glass looked at Nicole, licked her lips, and winked. Nicole averted her gaze away from Ms.Glass.

“Does anyone have any questions about this subject?” Bio Glass asked.

“Yeah, how do they have sex?” Sugar Daddy asked. “They don’t have the right parts.”

“That’s a good question,” Bio Glass said.

“McPherson can you answer Sugar’s question?” Bio asked.

“No,” Sam answered.

“Come on, don’t you want to take a swing at it?” Bio urged.

“I don’t know the answer,” Sam said.

“Should we be talking about this?” Brooke asked. “I’m sure it’s not allowed in class.”

“I’m the teacher. I can do whatever I want,” Bio Glass said. “Now, does anyone have anything they’d like to share with the class?”

Mary Cherry raised her hand and waved it frantically.

“Yes Mary Cherry?” Bio Glass asked.

“Lil Lily has a crush on me,” Mary Cherry said.

“As if,” Lily spat out. “I do not have a crush on her.”

“If she liked you why would she be with me?” Josh asked.

“She’s denyin’ her feelings,” Mary Cherry answered.

“Don’t make me gag,” Lily said.

“Does anyone know anyone that is homosexual?” Bio Glass asked.

“I can’t wait for class to end,” Sam whispered to Brooke.

“You’re not the only one,” Brooke whispered back.

“I’m sure if people wanted to talk about their personal lives in class they would but seeing as how we don’t want to can you just teach something?” Harrison asked.

“You’re just bitter ‘cause a girl turned you down for another girl,” Nicole said. “Get over it.”

“Who’s the girl who turned you down?” Bio Glass asked.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” Harrison said. “I don’t want to put her out like that.”

“Okay, that’s fine,” Bio Glass. “Ms.McQueen.”

“Yes sir?” Brooke asked.

“Are you dating anyone at the moment?” Bio Glass asked.

“Yes,” Brooke answered.

“Who is it?” Bio asked.

“What does that have to do with anything?” Carmen asked trying to take the attention away from Brooke. “I thought we were discussing same gendered relationships.”

“Ferrara, shut up,” Bio Glass instructed. “McPherson!”

Sam jumped slightly at the call of her name. “Huh?”

“Are you dating anyone at the moment?” Bio Glass walked over to the brunette.

“Kind of… yeah,” Sam answered.

“Kind of?” Brooke whispered to Sam.

Sam shrugged.

“Is it anyone in this classroom?” Bio Glass asked. “Like... Nicole Julian?”

“Ew!” Nicole yelled. “She wishes.”

“Or Harrison John?” Bio Glass continued. “Emory? It‘s Emory isn‘t it?”

“No!” Sam yelled.

“It’s me okay!” Brooke shouted. “Me and Sam are an item. We are dating. We are together. Does anyone have a problem with that?”

The sound of no’s around the room answered her question.

“Good,” Brooke said.

“Dude, that’s hot,” Sugar Daddy said. “If y’all need someone to video tape anything I’m your man.”

Sam shook her head but smiled. “Thanks but I don’t think we’ll be video taping anything.”

“Now that that’s out of the way let’s go back to physics,” Bio Glass said rubbing her hands together.

“I want to go back to Sugar‘s earlier question,” Emory said. “How exactly do you guys do it?”

Sam’s face became red and she covered her face.

Brooke took in a deep breath. “This is going to be a long day.”

After class was over people congratulated Brooke and Sam on their relationship. Then they went to tell other people about them. As they walked down the halls they got whistled at and applauded.

“They’re taking it better than I thought,” Sam said.

“Yeah,” Brooke said. “I need to go do something. I’ll see you later.” Brooke gave Sam a kiss and went to see Lily and Carmen.

She found the two girls at Lily’s locker. “Hey, can I get you two to do a favor for me?”

“Depends,” Carmen said. “What is it?”

“I’m planning a date for me and Sam but I want it to be a surprise,” Brooke said. “I need you to keep her out until eight.”

“Awww, that’s so sweet. What do you have planned?” Carmen asked.

“I’m going to cook dinner, then I picked out a movie for us to watch and then we’ll see what happens from there,” Brooke answered.

“Okay,” Lily said. “And Brooke, if you’re only using Sam-”

“I’m not,” Brooke said cutting off Lily. “I love her. She means the world to me. I just wasn‘t sure if I could handle being in a relationship with her. I wasn‘t sure how people would handle it and there‘s still our parents who we‘re going to have to tell eventually. But I know now that I want to be with her until the day I die.”

Carmen placed her hand over her heart. “I’m going to cry that is so touching.”

“Brookie,” Nicole said walking up to her friend with Mary Cherry. “Get away from those freaks before you catch their disease.”

“And what disease is that?” Lily asked.

“Whatever disease that makes you dress like that,” Nicole replied. She grabbed Brooke and pulled her into the Novak.

“I overheard Spam talking to her friends earlier about how her mom is pregnant,” Nicole said. “How are you taking that? I mean what if it turns out to be just like Spam? That’d be horrific.”

“Sam isn’t that bad once you get to know her,” Brooke said. “If you’d just give her a chance-”

“No, no, no,” Nicole said. “We are sworn enemies. Popular versus unpopular. Just because you guys went and pulled a Romeo and Juliet… Juliet and Juliet. Whatever. It doesn’t matter. I refuse to be friends with them.”

“I agree with Nic,” Mary Cherry said.

“Fine,” Brooke said. “You don’t have to be friends.”

“But we do support ya,” Mary Cherry said.

“Thanks guys,” Brooke said. “I have a couple of things to do. I’ll see you after school.”

Chapter Eleven

Brooke approached Harrison at his locker. “I know I told you I wouldn’t bother you anymore but I have something to say to you.”

“And what would that be?” Harrison asked.

“Sam loves you. She never meant to hurt you. I never meant to hurt you. There are a lot of girls out there who would love to be with you. Don’t let something stupid effect your friendship with your friend of 17 years.”

Harrison bowed his head down and looked back up. “I’m sorry. I really am. And I’ll talk to Sam. I guess you not wanting to be with me for a girl kinda bruised my ego.”

Brooke gave Harrison a hug. “You’re forgiven.”

“I’m going to go find Sam,” Harrison said.

Sam was with Lily and Carmen making plans for after school.

“Hey guys,” Harrison said. “How are you?”

“I’m good,” Lily said.

“Same,” Carmen replied.

“How about you Sam?” Harrison asked.

“I’m fine,” Sam answered.

“What are you guys up to?” Harrison asked.

“Making plans for this afternoon,” Carmen replied.

“Oh… do you have room for someone who is very sorry for being mean to one of his best friends?” Harrison asked.

Sam smiled and lunged herself at Harrison. Harrison tightened the hug.

“I guess that means you forgive me,” Harrison said.

Sam nodded as she pulled away.

“Awesome,” Harrison said. “Do you guys think Popita would go out with me?”

“You’re over Brooke already?” Lily asked.

“I’ve been over her,” Harrison said.

“Then why did you stay mad at me?” Sam asked.

“It was the principle of the matter,” Harrison said.

“And I was going to choose one of you over the other,” Sam said.

“Who were you going to choose?” Harrison asked.

“I’m not sure,” Sam said. “I’m just glad I don’t have to think about it anymore.”

“And I’m glad all the sad stuff is done with,” Lily said.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Brooke got her dad and Jane to agree to leave the house until Sunday. It took some convincing but they finally gave in. She told them they needed to spend more time together since Mike was always on business trips and that she and Sam needed to learn to get along better so their brother or sister wouldn’t be stuck in the middle of their wars. Right now Mike and Jane were headed to a hotel. Brooke looked at her watch. She had six hours to get everything together. She still needed to go grocery shopping so she grabbed her keys and headed out of the house.

Five hours later…

Brooke was almost done cooking and she had finished cleaning up but she still needed to get herself cleaned up. “Okay, should I wear something sophisticated or casual? Sophisticated and I‘ll wear my hair out. And I’ll put on a little make-up.” After Brooke was done getting ready she still had twenty minutes to kill. She observed herself in the mirror and remembered when Sam told her she had a natural beauty a few days ago. She wiped the make-up off her face and decided to change her clothes.

“I had fun guys,” Sam said as they walked to her car. “Hanging out in star bucks for several hours was great.”

“I’m surprised we didn’t get kicked out,” Harrison said.

“I don’t think they cared about us being there as long as we kept ordering,” Lily said.

“Hey do you guys know why Ms.Glass wanted to talk about same sex relationships today?” Carmen asked. “It was kind of odd.”

Sam stuck her tongue in the side of her cheek. “She caught me and Brooke making out in detention.” Sam’s three friends started to laugh.

“That had to be embarrassing,” Carmen said.

“It really was,” Sam said.

Lily glanced at her watch. “You should head home. It‘s getting late.”

“The parentals won’t care. It’s a Friday night,” Sam said.

“Yeah but you should go home just incase,” Lily said.

“Alright,” Sam said. “I’ll call you guys tomorrow.”

Everyone went to their cars and headed home.

The Palace…

Sam entered her house and was surprised when she saw only candles lighting up the place. Music was playing in the background but she could barely hear it. Brooke was nowhere in sight and neither were her parents. She went over and turned up the stereo and smiled when she heard the song.

I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

And rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed
And you're my survival, you're my living proof
My love is alive not dead

And tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache, that hang from above

Sam turned the radio back down and called for Brooke but didn’t get an answer. She went to the kitchen and saw that the blonde had cooked. She looked inside each of the pots and saw that everything was burnt. She laughed and decided to head upstairs. She found Brooke in her room writing something. There was about ten crumpled pieces of paper on the floor.

“You’re almost as bad as me when I’m trying to write an article,” Sam said kicking the paper around.

Brooke jumped when she heard Sam’s voice. “Don’t do that. You scared me.”

“Sorry,” Sam said. “What are you writing?”

“I was trying to write you a poem but I’m not good at that stuff,” Brooke sighed.

“Where’s everyone?” Sam asked.

“I sent them out for the weekend,” Brooke smiled. “The place is all ours.”

“And why’d you do that?” Sam asked.

“I planned for us to have a date today,” Brooke answered. “It’s a very casual date. I did have nice clothes on and stuff but you said I had a natural beauty and I didn’t see any point on dressing up if we weren’t actually going to leave the house. I messed up the food though. I can order pizza if you want.”

Sam smiled. “You do have a natural beauty. You look very sexy in your large white shirt and sweat pants. I‘m not really hungry. Have you eaten?”

“Yeah,” Brooke said.

Sam raised an eyebrow. “Really?”

Brooke nodded. “I’ve started to eat again. I know it would make you upset if I didn’t.”

“So your eating disorder was back?” Sam asked.

“Unfortunately,” Brooke said.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Sam asked. “I could’ve been there for you.”

“I don’t know,” Brooke said. “But I’m better now.”

“You’ll tell me if it comes back again?” Sam asked.

“I promise,” Brooke said. “And I apologize for acting as if I don’t care about you. I love you. And I will be a better girlfriend from here on out.”

“I love you too,” Sam gave Brooke a hug. “Okay, now what do you have planned for our date?” Sam asked.

“A movie and well that’s it,” Brooke said as she got up.

“Okay let’s head downstairs,” Sam said.

In the middle of the movie Sam changed her position so that she was lying on top of Brooke.

“What are you doing?” Brooke asked.

“I’ve seen this movie before,” Sam said kissing Brooke lightly.

“I thought you said we did too much of this and not enough of the intellectual stuff,” Brooke said.

“That was then,” Sam said moving her head down to Brooke’s neck. “This is now.”

“Let’s go upstairs,” Brooke said.

Sam grinned and pulled Brooke off of the couch. “So we have the house to ourselves until Sunday?”

“Yep,” Brooke said.

“Fantastic,” Sam said.

Author's Note: Ending a fic is the hardest thing for me to do because I never know how to end them. I hope this ending wasn't too bad.
