Sam picked up the threadbare doll, straightening his head and smiling into his glassy eyes. Squeezing his full belly, she whispered, "Sorry, Kermy... I have someone else to spend the night with."

"Sam?" came a voice from the bathroom. "Who're you talking to?"

"No one, sweetheart," Sam said. She kissed Kermit on the tip of his nose, flopped his arms a little, then slipped him under the bed as the bathroom door opened and her new lover stepped into the room.

Sam smiled and held her arms out. "Wanna cuddle?"
