Rating: ‘R’

Disclaimer: ‘Star Trek: Voyager, Captain Janeway, Seven of Nine’ and all other characters from the show belong to Rick Berman, Jeri Taylor, and Michael Piller. Also Paramount Studios, but most of all, Captain Kathryn Janeway and Seven Of Nine belong to Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan. No copyright infringement is intended or inferred.

Song Alert: The song I using in this story is called, “Angel In My Eyes” it’s sung by John Michael Montgomery. I only have the CD and not the jewel case, so I don’t know who wrote the song, but you can find it on his Greatest Hits CD.

Spoiler Alert: So far the only one is for “Drone”.

Author’s Note: This is the seventh song story I’ve written, “Wishing…” “Sittin’ On Go” “The Right Place” “How Long” “On The Verge” and “This Moment” being the other six. You’ll need to read the other stories in order for this to make sense.

Story Disclaimer: Although it’s rated ‘R’ there is no graphic language, sex or anything else that might disturb some readers. I felt because of what I did ‘show’ that I couldn’t in all honesty leave this a ‘PG-13’ as it was originally intended. This story DOES portray a loving relationship between Voyager’ Captain and its Astrometrics officer. So, if this is not your cup of ‘coffee, black,’ then I suggest that you find a different story to read.

Feed Back: Only if you like to.

“Computer, state the time.”

“The time is oh-four-thirty hours.”

“Computer, log Seven of Nine off duty for the rest of the day,” Kathryn Janeway said, as she gazed at the sleeping woman and thought about how the evening started.

“Acknowledged.”

(I watch her laying dead asleep)

Seven had joined her earlier for dinner and they had spent most of the evening talking, something they both enjoyed. Kathryn could tell that her companion had been trying her best not to fall asleep, as her eyes closed for longer periods of time. Janeway had suggested on more than one occasion on walking Seven back to the cargo bay so she could regenerate. At first, she was a little surprised and a little worried; if she admitted it to herself, that Seven was ‘that’ tired.

Of course Seven replied that she was not and began to demonstrate this fact for all of an hour. Kathryn smiled as she watched her love valiantly struggle against the effects of the warm milk she was able to get her to drink.

Kathryn managed to get her into bed, and with Seven’s help, finally got her out of her biometric suit and into standard Star Fleet issue pajamas before the statuesque young woman finally drifted off, her breathing pattern deep and steady. How she had managed to keep her heart from pounding out of her chest when she glimpsed Seven’s body while undressing her was a mystery.

(And thank my lucky stars for every second she’s here with me…)

Janeway wasn’t sure if Seven would be able to sleep through out the night, but she had every intention of memorizing the event.

(I wanna hold her in my arms…)

Janeway had changed into a nightgown and very gently slipped into bed. She moved until her body was resting behind the sleeping woman. She let her right arm slide around Seven’s waist, and smiled when Seven took her arm and placed it between her breasts, murmuring, “Better,” without waking.

Propping her head up with her left hand, Janeway bent towards Seven’s ear and whispered, “Yes darling. It’s so much better,” before placing a kiss on her cheek.

(She is my day… She is my night…She is the breath that gives me life…)

Janeway’s mind raced with thoughts she had had for a while. Although they had been ‘officially’ a couple for the past two months, she couldn’t help but feel that she wanted to make their relationship somehow more permanent.

They had already been through so much over the years.

(But sometimes we laugh…)

She thought back to her conversation with B’Elanna after their shore leave months ago. She’d asked her Chief of Engineering what had happened during the impromptu ‘water balloon’ fight.

Tom told her to try and hit him with the balloon… of course he didn’t really explain the concept very well. He had started running back to where he had his stash… and…’ B’Elanna had begun laughing at this point. ‘He did tell her to ‘hit him’ with it. Oh, Captain… you should have seen the way Tom hit the ground.’

(And sometimes we cry…)

She drifted from that pleasant memory to a sadder one.

She had wanted to do more than offer mere words of solace when One sacrificed himself. The pain in her own heart could not come close to what she believed Seven must have experienced at that time. She moved until her mouth was next to Seven’s ear.

“You were a wonderful mother to One,” she whispered gently before placing a kiss on Seven’s temple.

(Sometimes we fight… And we don’t know why)

She shivered despite the warmth coming from Seven’s body.

Their relationship had been far from perfect, and sometimes she wondered, privately, if what she had done, by severing Seven from the Borg collective—if it had been such a good idea.

(But no matter what…She believes in me)

Then as quickly as those thoughts came, she’d squash them. There was no doubt in her mind—she had made the correct decision, one that left her breathless at times.

(She’s the closest thing to heaven, I’ll ever see)

Janeway felt herself begin to drift off secure in the knowledge that she was a very lucky woman indeed.

(She will always be… An angel in my eyes)

******

Seven felt her eyes flutter open. Her confusion clearly written on her face, until she recalled what had happened.

She had fallen asleep.

(Sometimes I feel her by my side…)

She looked down towards her chest.

She was holding someone’s arm. And unless the captain had seen it fit to move her somewhere else, the arm could only belong to one person.

(Likes she’s watching over me)

She felt a gentle stream of warm air caressing her neck.

(I get a chill runnin’ down my spine…)

She turned around slowly, and came face to face with Kathryn.

(And that’s all the proof I need…)

Seven smiled.

She had ‘slept’ with Kathryn.

(That she fills my heart…)

She stared, looking deeply into Kathryn’s face. It was an unguarded moment, one she would treasure.

(She fills my soul…)

It was not an occurrence that Kathryn was prone to display. There had been times while they were together—holding one another—that Seven thought she had finally managed to see past Kathryn’s defenses.

That was not to say that Kathryn did not relax when they were alone. She did.

But even Seven realized that Kathryn was never completely relaxed. There had always seemed to be a part of her that was always on alert…

Always—Captain Janeway.

But at this moment, she was simply Kathryn.

(She is the half that makes me whole…)

Her Kathryn.

(Well, sometimes we laugh… And sometimes we cry)

“Good morning Kathryn,” Seven murmured as she watched the other woman drift towards consciousness.

“Mmm, is it?” she asked as she rolled over to her back and stretched.

Seven felt her respiration increase dramatically as Kathryn moaned sensuously. “Yes… most definitely,” she replied as she moistened her lips. She dipped her head and quickly tasted Kathryn’s lips, after a minute she moved back. “After further review, I can state that it is a…” her head tilted to the right, “’very good’ morning.”

“And as much as I would love to demonstrate just ‘how’ much better this morning could be,” Kathryn said, her voice low and husky, rolling back to her side and letting her fingers drift up Seven’s arm.

“Yes Kathryn…” Seven gasped when the other woman’s hand drifted towards her chest.

(Sometimes we fight… And we don’t know why)

“I’ve got to get up,” she said, gently squeezing the soft mound of flesh beneath her hand.

(But no matter what…)

“No… please…. Stay,” Seven pleaded as her back arched towards Kathryn’s capable hand.

(She believes in me…)

“I really should go,” Kathryn said half-heartedly, knowing that it wouldn’t take much for her to stay right where she was.

(She’s the closest thing to heaven, I’ll ever see….)

“I do not wish you to leave Kathryn,” Seven said as she moved her hand and placed it on Janeway’s hip, and brought her closer.

(She will always be… An angel in my eyes)

Janeway gasped upon contact and leaned over and captured Seven’s lips with her own.

They explored each other’s mouths while hands roamed, sliding underneath shirts and nightgowns. Each of them caught up in a passion that swept them away.

“Tuvok to Captain Janeway…”

Kathryn thought she’d heard something and pause momentarily. Shrugging her shoulders she continued her journey down Seven’s throat, tasting, licking and kissing the silky skin beneath her lips.

“Tuvok to Captain Janeway, please respond.”

“No…” she groaned. She took a deep breath and stopped Seven’s hand from moving any lower. “Janeway here.”

“Captain, we have received a distress call…”

“I’m on my way. Janeway out,” she said ending the communication.

(Well… Sometimes we laugh…)

“This is not what I had in mind Kathryn,” Seven panted as her respiration struggled to keep up with her body’s demand for oxygen.

(And sometimes we cry…)

“This is unbelievable’,” Janeway growled, her level of frustration soaring.

(Sometimes we fight… And we don’t know why)

“It is predictable,” Seven stated.

“What?”

“I have noticed that whenever we are close to consummating our relationship, something invariably happens,” she explained.

(But no matter what… She believes in me…)

“Seven… when this is over,” Janeway said, looking deeply into the other woman’s face. “we will finish what we started.”

(She’s the closest thing to heaven, I’ll ever see)

Seven’s eyebrows raised a notch. “I do not believe that would be prudent.”

“Why not?” Janeway asked, surprise coloring her voice.

“Kathryn,” Seven began, “we have waited this long. And although I would much rather concede to your suggestion, I cannot. I do not wish our first time to be an attempt to conclude what we have started. I would much rather start from the beginning, as I do not wish to… ‘miss out’ on anything.”

(She will always be…)

Kathryn sighed, “You’re right. It would be rushed, and to tell you the truth, I’d much rather take my time. You deserve nothing else but my full attention,” she concluded.

(She will always be…)

“Acceptable. Now, we must both hurry before you are hailed once again,” she said as she regrettably got out of bed.

(She will always be…)

“You don’t have to… I’ve logged you off duty for today.”

“Why?” Seven asked, pausing her steps.

“You were tired…”

“And you thought I needed time?”

“Yes,” Janeway answered truthfully.

“You can be very considerate at times Kathryn. But, the sooner this situation is taken care of…”

“The sooner I’ll have you all to myself,” Janeway finished.

Seven dipped her head in acknowledgement, turned around and entered the ensuite.

(An angel in my eyes)

“Let’s get going,” Janeway mumbled to herself as she got out of bed.

The End
