Lily Esposito

Lily is the social conscience of Kennedy High. If there's a wrong she wants to put it right. It has to be said she doesn't often succeed but at least she tries.

Her first triumph is her refusal to dissect Jehovah the frog in Biology. She was inspired to do so by Carmen and found her stand admired by Josh, who was also making waves at the time.

Lily appears to be from a newly poor background. Her mother insists she keeps her job at Mr Cluck's (after her plan to push side dishes instead of chicken fails to impress the manager) because they need the money.

Her responsible sex campaign leads to her getting detention with Harrison for unauthorised distribution of condoms. They both bemoan their lack of partners. It would seem that activism is not attractive to boys. They discuss sex between friends and agree it would be a sensible solution for their virginal state. They meet at a hotel to do the deed but Lily backs out as she can only see Harrison as a friend, she doesn't find him desireable.

He is hurt. She is terribly confused. She discusses this with Carmen who suggests she might like girls and initiates a kiss to test this out. When this is revealed later on, Carmen declares vehemently that she is not like that, and maybe she isn't, but Lily is still confused about her sexuality.

Sam is hurt that her friend could not share this with her (or possibly jealous that she didn't get a kiss). Nicole wants more details and Mary Cherry adds her to a fictitious threesome.

Next, possibly in an attempt to prove she is attractive to boys as well as girls, she wears a "saucy" top that garners unwelcome comments from Josh and Sugar. Strangely, prior to this incident she had got dressed up for the prom, looked absolutely stunning, and yet no one seemed to notice her then.

After helping to support the transgendered Ms Debbie and tussling with Mary Cherry over a lobster, she takes on Ms Glass again to save an oak tree. Though she picks up an award as 'student activist of the year' all these efforts end in failure, as does her attempt to horn in on Ms Glass' plan to deceive her her Uncle Tipton for money. She also had a (temporary) falling out with Carmen over the welfare of their pretend child hilaryswank. But her scheme to repatriate Bruce the gay chimp has an unexpected outcome.

Josh helps her free Bruce after becoming a vegetarian on her advice. She confesses that he's the only person to have been influenced by her. They become close as a result, and shortly after, when Brooke sees the writing on the wall and lets Josh go, an official item.

Given her responsible attitude it seems odd that she would become involved in the cough-syrup craze that sweeps the school but she does. Josh is caught out despite an effort to foil the test, but she sticks by him and shares the punishment as a couple.

Both have trouble with body image when they think they have to perform a play in the nude, but it's a needless worry on both sides.

Lily is kind-hearted to a fault, she even helps her arch-enemy Mary Cherry when she falls on hard times. She also offers to relieve Harrison of his virginity after discovering Josh has set him up with a prostitute but this time it is he who refuses.

She considers alternate sexualities again when she starts up G.L.A.S.S. to defend Bryan Rose, and others, against prejudice. But it is she who gets bashed and ends up in hospital but she makes others think so it's not a total loss.

Josh elects to stay with his dad when his mom decides to move away in order to stay with Lily. Lily suggests they get married, and they do, just before the prom.

Disapproving parents make them move into Ms Glass' basement, but life is hard and they can't even find the time to consumate the marriage between all the chores. And so their story ends on an uncertain note.

In season three they would have moved in with Harrison and his mom then broken up when Lily discovered Josh's secret addiction to cockfighting.

Have I missed anything?
