Chapter One

Sam walked up to her girlfriend at her locker after school. “Are you ready to go?”

“I have practice today,” Brooke said. “You’re gonna have to get a ride home from someone else.”

“Harrison, Lily, and Carmen already left,” Sam whined.

“Fine,” Brooke pulled her car keys from her purse. “You can take my car. Nicole will drive me home. You need to get your car fixed.”

Sam smirked. “Thanks. And my car’s fine. It’s just sick.”

Brooke rolled her eyes. “You’re such a nerd.”

“But you love me anyway,” Sam grinned.

Brooke stole a quick kiss from the brunette. “I’m late for practice.”

“Nicole’s gonna be furious,” Sam said.

“I’ll just blame it on you,” Brooke said.

“How sweet of you,” Sam said. “I’ll see you when you get home.”

“Okay,” Brooke said. “Don’t miss me too much.”

“I’ll try not to,” Sam said. “Kiss for the road?”

Brooke gave Sam a more passionate kiss than before. “Drive safely.”

“Always,” Sam said as she turned to leave.

Brooke watched her girlfriend leave the school and then looked at her watch. “Shit, I’m real late.”

When Brooke arrived at the gym Nicole glared at her.

“It’s about damn time,” Nicole said when Brooke approached her.

“Sorry, I was with Sam,” Brooke said.

“She always makes you late,” Nicole said. “You’re the captain. You’re supposed to be on time.”

“Well Nic, since she’s the captain doesn’t she have more authority than us?” Mary Cherry asked.

“Yeah,” Popita said. “She’s not late we’re all just early.”

“Ass kissers,” Nicole spat.

“I won’t be late again,” Brooke said. “Let’s just get started.

Sam had just gotten home and went to find her mom. She found her in the kitchen looking at a magazine. “Hi mom.”

“Hi honey,” Jane said. “How was school?”

“It was okay,” Sam replied.

“Where’s Brooke?” Jane asked.

“Cheerleading practice,” Sam answered.

“We need to talk,” Jane said.

“Uh oh,” Sam said sitting down. “What’d I do?”

“Nothing… I hope,” Jane said. “Have you and Brooke been… together yet?”

Sam stared at her mom blankly. Pretend you don’t know what she’s talking about and she won’t ask again. Sam thought.

“Let me try asking in a different way,” Jane sighed. “Have you and Brooke been intimate?”

“Mom, there are such things as privacy,” Sam replied.

“Sam,” Jane said in a strict tone.

“We haven’t done anything,” Sam lied. “Don’t worry.”

Jane let out a long breath. “Alright, I was just making sure.”

“Can I go upstairs now before you embarrass me even more? Sam asked.

“Yeah,” Jane said.

Sam went upstairs and opened up her laptop. She checked her email and then decided to take a nap until Brooke came home.

Brooke had been home for an hour now. She had went to Sam’s room as soon as she got home but the brunette was sleeping and she didn’t want to wake her. Instead Brooke took a shower and started her homework. The phone rang and she was grateful for the interruption. “Hello?”

“Hey Brookie,” Nicole said. “What are you up to?”

“Homework,” Brooke answered.

“Do you want to hang out with me and Mary Cherry tonight?” Nicole asked.

“Sorry, I can’t,” Brooke said. “Sam and I are going to spend sometime together tonight.”

“You know, ever since you’ve started dating that turd you haven’t been paying your friends any mind,” Nicole pointed out.

“I’m sorry,” Brooke said for the third time today. “Tomorrow we’ll totally hang out.”

“Fine,” Nicole said. “I’ll speak to you tomorrow.”

“Bye,” Brooke said and hung up the phone. Brooke sighed and leaned back on the headboard of her bed.

Sam walked into Brooke’s room and saw that the girl was upset. “What’s wrong?” Sam sat down on the bed next to Brooke.

“Nicole was complaining about how I spend more time with you than her and Mary Cherry,” Brooke replied.

“Nicole’s jealous of me?” Sam asked. “That’s great.”

Brooke smirked and placed a kiss on Sam’s neck. “Did you sleep well?”

“Yes I did,” Sam said. “My mom asked me how far we’ve gone in our relationship today.”

“What’d you tell her?” Brooke asked.

“I lied,” Sam said. “I didn’t want to tell her we’ve done it. She’d never leave us home alone again.”

“And she’d probably go into shock,” Brooke said. “She’s still trying to get used to us being together.”

“Yeah, so is Mike,” Sam said. “So are we still hanging out tonight or are you going to go over to Nicole’s?”

“I’m spending the day with you and I’m hanging out with Nicole tomorrow,” Brooke said.

“All I need to do is take a shower and do my homework and I’m all yours,” Sam said.

Brooke smiled as Sam left her room.

Chapter Two

Brooke was at Sam’s locker with Sam’s friends when Nicole approached her.

“Hey,” Brooke greeted her friend.

“You shouldn’t stand by these rejects. It’ll ruin our social standing,” Nicole warned.

“How about you just go away,” Sam said.

“I can stand wherever I want,” Nicole said. “Do you have a problem with that?”

“Whatever. Wanna walk me to class?” Sam asked Brooke.

“No, she doesn’t,” Nicole answered for Brooke.

“What’s your problem you crack-headed furby?” Carmen asked.

“You four geeks are,” Nicole said. “You think you’re all cool because one of your unpopular freaks is dating the most popular girl in school.”

“Chill out,” Harrison said.

“Let’s go guys,” Lily said.

“Why should we have to leave?” Carmen asked. “We’re at Sam’s locker not Nicole’s.”

“I was done anyway,” Sam said. “Bye Brooke. I’ll see you during physics.”

“Buh-bye you losers,” Nicole said.

After Sam and her friends left Brooke turned to Nicole. “Would it kill you to be nice to them?”

“Yes, yes it would,” Nicole replied.

“Please just try,” Brooke begged.

“Fine, but only because I’m a good best friend,” Nicole said.

“Thanks,” Brooke said.

Sam and Brooke were doing their lab worksheets while holding hands. Everyone knew they were together so they didn’t have to hide anything.

“So what are you and Satan going to do after school?” Sam asked.

“Don’t know,” Brooke shrugged. “Probably hang out at her house.”

“Want to skip the last period with me?” Sam asked.

“I have to take a test,” Brooke said.

“Blah,” Sam said. “Let’s go out for lunch then.”

“Okay,” Brooke said. “I’m dying for some Chinese food.”

“Awesome,” Sam said. “We can go to make-out point.”

“No,” Brooke shook her head.

“Why not?” Sam whined.

“I won’t make it back in time for my test,” Brooke replied.

“I’ll make sure you make it back in time,” Sam said.

“Lunch and back,” Brooke said.

“You’re no fun,” Sam said.

“We can have our fun tonight,” Brooke said. “Jane and my dad are going out for dinner.”

“How do you know?” Sam asked.

“I’m paying for it,” Brooke responded.

“Aw, you’d spend your shopping money so we could have the place to ourselves? I’m touched,” Sam said.

“You should be,” Brooke said. “I’m a very dedicated girlfriend.”

“You just want to get laid,” Sam said.

“No, I want to make love to my hot and very sexy girlfriend,” Brooke smirked.

“Hot and Sexy?” Sam repeated. “You just scored some major points.”

“Yay me,” Brooke grinned.

Brooke and Sam were sitting in Brooke’s car feeding each other.

“I like this,” Brooke said as she held out the plastic fork with food for Sam to eat.

“You like feeding me?” Sam asked after she finished eating what Brooke had fed her.

“I meant I like spending all my time with you,” Brooke said.

“If I had friends like Nicole and Mary Cherry I’d like spending all my time with me too,” Sam joked.

“Haha,” Brooke said. “We should head back to school.”

“How important is that test?” Sam asked.

“Very important,” Brooke replied. “Besides, I drove here. You don’t have a choice but to go back to school.”

“Fine, let’s go,” Sam said.

Brooke leaned over to kiss Sam and then started her car.

Brooke was with Mary Cherry at Nicole’s house in the basement. Nicole was upstairs changing her clothes and Mary Cherry was talking to Brooke about how weird Nicole’s been acting. Brooke totally agreed with Mary Cherry. Nicole had been meaner than usual and her arguments with the unpopular weren’t her best. Every time she asked the girl what was wrong she would say nothing. She knew Nicole didn’t like talking about her problems because it showed signs of weakness. Nicole walked down into the basement and sat down on the couch opposite her friends.

“So Brooke how long are you staying with us before you go home to Spam?” Nicole asked.

“Six,” Brooke replied. “I don’t mean to not spend enough time with you guys but when I started dating Sam I spent more time with you guys and she got upset and so now I’m spending more time with her and I enjoy it.”

“So you prefer your girlfriend over your best friends?” Nicole asked.

“I didn’t say that,” Brooke sighed.

“Then what are you saying?” Nicole asked.

“I don’t know,” Brooke said.

“Y’all used to be good friends,” Mary Cherry said. “What happened?”

“Two words,” Nicole said. “Spam McWench.”

“Y’all should just all hang out,” Mary Cherry suggested. “You two and Sam.”

“That’s actually a good idea,” Brooke said. “Nicole please agree to it.”

Nicole rolled her eyes. “Fine, but you better train her before you take her out in public with me.”

Brooke refrained from comment. She was just glad Nicole agreed. Now she just needed to convince Sam to go out with them.

Chapter Three

Brooke walked inside the Palace and after dropping her stuff off in her room she went to Sam’s room. Sam was on the phone talking so Brooke quietly laid down next to her with her head resting on the brunette’s stomach. Sam stroked Brooke’s hair as she talked to Carmen on the phone.

“Okay Carm,” Sam said. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” Sam hung up the phone and placed it on the nightstand next to her. “Comfortable?” She asked Brooke.

“The blonde nodded against Sam’s stomach. “Very.” Brooke moved so she was lying on top of Sam with her head resting in the crook of her neck. She placed light kisses on the exposed flesh and Sam closed her eyes and relaxed. “I have a big favor to ask you.”

“Okay,” Sam said. “What is it?”

Tomorrow Nicole and I are going to spend some time together since we’ve been drifting apart and you have to come with us.” Brooke said. “Can you please put aside your differences for at least one day?”

“Why do I have to join you?” Sam asked.

“So you and Nicole can try to get along,” Brooke said.

“That’s never going to happen,” Sam said. “I refuse to go.”

“Please, please, please,” Brooke begged.

“My mind has been made up,” Sam said.

Brooke smirked and started to undo the belt on Sam’s jeans.

“What are you doing?” Sam asked.

“Unmaking up your mind,” Brooke answered.

Jane and Mike had arrived home several minutes ago. After taking a shower Jane decided to check on Brooke and Sam. Luckily for them they had put on their nightclothes and were now cuddling on Sam’s bed. Jane turned on the light in Sam’s room.

“Hey mom,” Sam moved out of Brooke’s arms and sat up in the bed. “How was your date?”

“Fine,” Jane said. “Thanks again Brooke.”

“You’re welcome,” Brooke smiled.

“Did you two enjoy your time alone?” Jane asked.

“Yeah,” Brooke answered.

“How much?” Jane asked.

“I know where this one’s headed,” Sam muttered.

Jane pulled Sam’s desk chair over to the bed and sat down. “We need to have the talk.”

“Do we really have to?” Brooke asked. “We already know everything. We’re seventeen.”

“Well I want to have the talk with you,” Jane said. “Where do you want to begin?”

“We don’t,” Sam said.

“Let’s start with the truth,” Jane said. “Have you two had sex?”

“No,” the girls answered in unison.

“That was too fast an answer for my liking,” Jane said.

“We haven’t done anything but make out,” Brooke said.

Satisfied with that answer Jane decided to stop badgering them. “I’ll see you girls tomorrow morning.”

“Goodnight,” Brooke said.

After Jane left Sam sighed. “I feel bad lying to her.”

“So do I,” Brooke said. “But do you really want to tell her?”

“No,” Sam answered. “I wonder why she wants to know so badly.”

“She wants to be the cool mom,” Brooke said. “She probably wants us to know we can talk to her and she won’t freak out.”

“Why can’t she be the uncool mom?” Sam asked. “You better go to your room before your dad comes in here too.”

“Alright,” Brooke said. “Don’t forget we’re going out with Nicole tomorrow.”

Kennedy High…

“I feel sorry for you,” Harrison said as he walked with Sam and Carmen to Lily’s locker.

“What are you guys talking about?” Lily asked when her friends approached her.

“Brooke tricked Sam into going with her and Nicole somewhere,” Carmen said. “She’s trying to get them to get along.”

“How’d she trick you into agreeing to something like that?” Lily asked.

Sam began to blush and Lily, Carmen, and Harrison laughed.

“I think you just answered my question,” Lily said.

Brooke walked over to Sam and placed a kiss on her temple.

“Hey Brooke,” Carmen said.

“Hi Carmen. Lily. Harrison,” Brooke said. “Sam, can I borrow two dollars for lunch?”

Sam pulled a couple of bucks out of her baggy pants and handed Brooke two dollars and put the rest back.

“Thanks babe,” Brooke said. “And you’re needed in the Novak.”

“By who?” Sam asked.

“Me,” Brooke smirked and winked at the brunette.

“I’ll see you guys later today,” Sam said.

Lily, Harrison, and Carmen watched the two girls leave.

“Do you think they’d video tape any of what they’re about to do for me?” Harrison asked.

Carmen and Lily rolled their eyes.

“What? I was just wondering,” Harrison said.

Brooke and Sam walked into the Novak and checked the stalls.

“I like how every time we want to use the Novak as our own personal bedroom it’s always empty,” Sam said.

“I guess ever since that one time April Tuna walked in on us people decided to not come in here anymore unless it’s a dire emergency,” Brooke smirked.

Sam nipped at Brooke’s neck and Brooke moved her head to the side slightly so Sam would have better access. When the bathroom door opened Sam moved away from Brooke.

“You,” Sam said impatiently.

“Sorry to interrupt,” Nicole said. “Brooke, Josh wants to speak to you. He’s at his locker.”

“Okay,” Brooke said. “I’ll be right back.”

Brooke left and Sam sat down on the couch to wait for her. “Aren’t you leaving?”

“No,” Nicole replied and sat down next to Sam. A little too close for Sam’s comfort.

“Are you planning on killing me in the restroom?” Sam asked.

“No,” Nicole said. “I’m trying to get along with you like Brooke wants me to do. I think we can get along for Brooke’s sake. Don’t you?”

“Yeah sure,” Sam said.

It’s now or never. Nicole thought as she moved her hand to Sam’s knee.

“What are you doing?” Sam asked.

“Touching you,” Nicole replied.

“I can see that,” Sam said. “Why are you touching me?”

“Because I want to,” Nicole said.

“Well I don’t want you to touch me where you’re touching me,” Sam said.

“Would you rather me touch you somewhere else,” Nicole whispered into Sam’s ear.

Sam jumped up from the couch. “I… I need to go.”

Nicole smiled to herself as Sam left.

Brooke entered the Novak five minutes later. “Where’s Sam?”

“She had to do something,” Nicole replied. “She told me to tell you bye for her.”

“Oh okay,” Brooke said. “See, you guys are getting along already.”

“Yep,” Nicole said. “We’re getting along just fine.”

Chapter Four

“Are you serious?” Carmen was in shock. “Nicole made a pass at you?”

“Yes,” Sam said. “

“Wow,” Harrison said. “That’s freaky.”

“Did you tell Brooke?” Lily asked.

“No,” Sam said. “She probably wouldn’t believe me.”

“Of course she will,” Lily said.

“But Nicole’s her best friend,” Sam said.

“That’s exactly why she will believe you,” Harrison said.

“She’ll definitely believe you over Nicole,” Carmen said.

“Oh hey, Brooke, today in the Novak Nicole was trying to feel me up,” Sam said in a sarcastic tone. “She wouldn’t believe that. Nicole is supposed to hate me.”

“This is just too disturbing,” Harrison said. “Nicole and Sam together?”

“I will never ever be with Satan,” Sam said. “I don’t need to tell Brooke anything. Nothing happened.”

“Are you still going out with them?” Carmen asked.

“Should I?” Sam asked.

“Your choice,” Lily said.

“If I don’t go I’d have to tell Brooke why,” Sam said.

“Well, just try to keep some distance between you and Nicole,” Harrison suggested

“Argh,” Sam sighed and went to go find Brooke.

Sam went to Brooke’s locker but the blonde wasn’t there. She decided to wait a few minutes before she left. Nicole approached the locker and smiled at Sam.

“Hey Spam,” Nicole said.

“Go away,” Sam said.

“Are you upset about earlier?” Nicole asked.

“You shouldn’t have done what you did,” Sam said.

“I didn’t do anything,” Nicole said.

“Whatever,” Sam said. “Let’s just drop it.”

Nicole moved closer to Sam, got on the tip of her toes so she could reach Sam’s ear, and stuck her tongue in the girl’s ear. “Let’s not.”

Sam pushed Nicole away from her and rubbed her ear. Seconds later Brooke appeared. “Hey sweetie.”

“Hi,” Sam said. “How are you?”

“I’m good,” Brooke said. “Hi Nicole.”

“Hey Brookie,” Nicole said. “Are you about ready to go?”

“Uh huh,” Brooke put a few things into her locker and closed it. Let’s go.”

Sam sighed and decided she was going to have to lie to Brooke. “I’m not feeling too well.”

“What’s wrong?” Brooke asked.

“Major migraine,” Sam said.

“Want me to stay home with you?” Brooke asked.

“No, it’s alright,” Sam said. “I’ll get a ride home from Carmen.”

“Okay,” Brooke gave Sam a kiss. “I’ll buy you something to make you feel better.”

As soon as Brooke and Nicole began to walk away Nicole turned around and winked at Sam. Sam shuddered and went to go find Carmen.

“Hey Sam,” Josh greeted her as she walked by him.

“Hi,” Sam said. “Josh, I have a question for you.”

“What’s up?” Josh asked.

“Did Nicole ever try to get with you while you were dating Brooke?” Sam asked.

“She flirted with me a lot. And as soon as Brooke broke up with me she took advantage of me. I‘m sure you already know that,” Josh said. “Why?”

“I was just wondering,” Sam said. “Bye.”

“See ya,” Josh said.

“Her tongue… in your ear?” Carmen asked.

“That’s so gross,” Harrison said. “Nicole must really want you.”

Harrison, Lily, and Carmen were at Carmen’s house.

“You should’ve told Brooke,” Harrison said. “I would’ve killed to see a chick fight between those two.”

Sam rolled her eyes. “I’m so confused. Why would Nicole hit on me?”

“Because she likes you,” Carmen said.

“Ew,” Sam said. “Then why is she so mean to me?”

“The same reason you and Brooke were mean to each other,” Lily said.

“That doesn’t go for everyone,” Sam said.

“Sure it does,” Carmen said.

“Okay that means Nicole likes you too and Mary Cherry likes Lily,” Harrison pointed out.

“Never mind,” Carmen said. “I was wrong.”

“Maybe Nicole’s jealous of Brooke so she’s trying to get you to cheat on her,” Harrison said. “Like that thing with Josh. When she slept with him after Brooke broke up with him.”

“So you think she just wants to hurt Brooke?” Lily asked.

“I don’t know,” Sam said.

“Maybe she’s jealous of you and she’s trying to get you to cheat on Brooke so Brooke will break up with you,” Carmen said.

“I hate drama,” Sam said. “Why does this have to happen to me?”

“Are you ever going to tell her about Nicole?” Carmen asked.

“If it gets worse then yeah,” Sam said.

“So how’d you get out of going?” Lily asked.

“I told Brooke I had a migraine,” Sam sighed. “I hate lying to her. She‘s going to be pissed when she finds out that I lied to her and didn‘t tell her about Nicole sooner.”

“Then why don’t you take the easy route and tell her?” Harrison asked.

“Cause then it’ll start a shit load of drama,” Sam said. “I don’t want to get caught in the middle of that.”

“Well you should get home before Brooke does,” Lily said.

“Yeah,” Sam said. “Can you give me a ride?”

“Sure,” Lily said.

“Bye guys,” Sam said to her other friends.

Chapter Five

Brooke entered Sam’s room and saw the girl thinking really hard. Sam heard Brooke open her door and looked up.

“Hey,” Sam said. “How was your day?”

“It was okay,” Brooke replied. “What are you thinking about?”

“This show I saw on television,” Sam said.

“You’re thinking this hard over a show?” Brooke asked.

“Yeah,” Sam lied.

“Well, what happened in the show?” Brooke asked as she sat down next to Sam.

“This girl’s boyfriend was being hit on by the girl’s best friend and the boyfriend never told his girlfriend,” Sam said.

“He should’ve told her,” Brooke said. “I mean, if my best friend was all over you I’d want to know so I could straighten her out. No pun intended.”

“Huh?” Sam said not catching the double meaning of what Brooke had said.

“Straighten her out,” Brooke repeated. “Never mind. How’s your head?”

“It’s feeling a little better,” Sam said.

“All this thinking isn’t helping you,” Brooke said. “Relax. Oh, I got something for you.” Brooke left Sam’s room and came back a couple of seconds later.

Sam took the teddy bear from Brooke with a smile on her face. “Thanks. It’s cute. It smells like you.”

“I sprayed my perfume on it,” Brooke said.

Sam laughed. “And why’d you do that?”

“So you’d think about me when you smelled the scent,” Brooke said.

“I already think about you enough,” Sam said.

Brooke got back into the bed with Sam and cuddled up next to her.

“If your head is feeling better tomorrow do you want to go with me, Mary Cherry and Nicole to the movies?”

“Pssh,” Sam said. “No.”

“Oh come on,” Brooke said. “It’ll be fun.”

“Can I bring my friends too?” Sam asked.

“If you want,” Brooke said. “The more the merrier.”

“You do know all Hell’s gonna break loose if they’re all in the same room for too long?” Sam asked.

“Yeah I know,” Brooke said. “But I’m gonna be there to restore order.”

It was a Saturday morning and Sam was with her friends in her room. She was trying to convince them to go with her to the movies.

“No way,” Lily said to Sam after the brunette had asked her to join her at the movies.

“I’m with Lily,” Carmen said.

“So am I,” Harrison said.

“Guys please don’t make me go to the movies with Nicole and Mary Cherry… especially Nicole,” Sam said. “I’ll pay for the tickets.”

“Fine,” Harrison said. “I’ll go.”

“Alright,” Carmen gave in also. “But only because you’re my friend and I love you.”

Sam turned to Lily and pleaded with her eyes. “You owe me.”

“Thank you!” Sam exclaimed.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Lily said.

The Movies…

Sam was sitting between Brooke and Nicole. Brooke was on her right and Nicole was on her left. This sucks. Sam thought. While she was trying to concentrate on the movie Sam felt a hand on her thigh and she knew it wasn’t Brooke’s hand. Sam pushed the hand away from her but Nicole only put it back. Sam leaned over Brooke and whispered to Lily. “Follow me.”

Lily got up and followed Sam into the bathroom.

“What’s wrong?” Lily asked.

“Nicole won’t stop touching me,” Sam said.

“Are you serious?” Lily asked.

“I can’t believe she’s doing it when Brooke’s sitting right on the other side of me,” Sam said. “I don’t want to go back in there.”

“Maybe we can switch seats,” Lily suggested.

“Good idea,” Sam said.

Lily and Sam returned to the movie theater and Sam sat in Lily’s seat and Lily sat where Sam was sitting. Nicole glared at Lily and Lily just glared back.

“Is everything okay?” Brooke whispered to Sam.

“Yeah,” Sam said. Everything’s just peachy. Sam thought.

The movie had finished several minutes ago and Sam and Brooke’s friends were walking to their cars.

“Y’all that was a good movie,” Mary Cherry said. “We should do this again some time.”

“Or not,” Sam muttered.

“Definitely not,” Lily agreed.

“It wasn’t that bad,” Brooke said. “At least no one fought… much.”

“Hey, Carmen should’ve brought me back some candy when she bought herself some,” Nicole said.

“I wouldn’t waste my money on you,” Carmen said.

“Guys don’t fight,” Brooke said.

Carmen, Harrison, and Lily went to their separate cars after bidding Brooke and Sam goodnight.

“We’ll see y’all later,” Mary Cherry said as she got into Nicole’s car.

“I’m so tired,” Sam yawned.

“So am I,” Brooke said. “I need a shower and my favorite pillow so I can sleep peacefully.”

Sam smirked. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” Brooke smiled.

Sam was lying on her side and Brooke was cuddled up behind her. She decided this would be the right moment to tell Brooke about Nicole’s behavior.

“Brooke, I know you might not believe me but I really hope you do cause none of this is my fault. Nicole’s been hitting on me lately and I just thought you should know. She first came on to me in the Novak, and then at your locker and again in the movie theater,” Sam said. “Brooke?” Sam turned around and saw that Brooke was fast asleep. She sighed and placed a kiss on the blonde’s forehead.

Chapter Six

“I did tell her,” Sam said. She was with her friends in her room.

“She was sleeping,” Carmen said. “That doesn’t count.”

“It’s not my fault she fell asleep,” Sam said.

“Just tell her again,” Lily said.

“No,” Sam said. “She shouldn’t have fallen asleep.”

“Don’t be afraid,” Lily said.

“I’m not afraid,” Sam said. “I’m just really trying to avoid all the drama that is sure to come from me telling her.”

“You should talk to Nicole,” Carmen said.

“So she can hit on me more? I don’t think so,” Sam said.

“We’ll talk to her for you,” Lily said. “We can go to her house.”

“And say what?” Carmen asked.

“Just tell her to leave Sam alone,” Lily said. “I’m sure if she knew that we knew she’d stop.”

“And if she doesn’t?” Sam asked.

“Then you tell Brooke,” Lily said.

Sam sighed. “Alright.”

“Great,” Lily smiled. “Let’s go Carmen.”

You did that?” Mary Cherry asked. “Does Brooke know?”

“Of Course not,” Nicole said. “Spam hasn’t told her.”

“Why are ya doing it?” Mary Cherry asked.

“Because Brooke always gets everything she wants. She realizes she’s gay and starts dating the most unpopular girl in school and she’s still on top. People still cherish her. I’m tired of being second best,” Nicole ranted.

“Third best,” Mary Cherry corrected. “I’m second.”

“Um… no,” Nicole said. “Anyway, don’t you agree with me?”

“Yeah,” Mary Cherry said. “So what does Sam have to do with any of this?”

“We’re going to make Brooke think Spam’s cheating on her with me,” Nicole said. “She’ll be devastated. And when people find out that Miss Popular got “cheated” on by Spam she’ll be the laughing stock of Kennedy High."

“Well, why have you been feeling her up?” Mary Cherry asked.

“Just to piss Brooke off when she finds out and to freak Sam out,” Nicole lied. The truth was jealousy wasn't the only reason why Nicole was trying to hurt Brooke. She really had a crush on Sam and didn’t want Brooke to be with her. She was hoping she could seduce Sam into being with her.

Lily and Carmen walked up to Nicole’s house as she and Mary Cherry were exiting the house.

“Why are you on my property?” Nicole asked.

“We need to talk,” Lily said.

“We have nothing to discuss,” Nicole said.

“Stop messing with Sam,” Carmen said.

Nicole smirked. “And if I don’t?”

“We will take you down,” Lily said. “And don’t think we won’t ‘cause we will kick your popular, blonde asses.”

“Lil’ Lily, ya couldn’t take us on your best day,” Mary Cherry said.

“Yeah, we are not afraid of you,” Nicole said. “Now move.”

Carmen and Lily stood their ground. “Leave Sam alone or we’re taking this to Brooke.” With that said the two brunettes walked off.

“I just got an idea,” Nicole pulled out her cell phone and called Brooke. “Hey Brookie, I have to tell you something. I’m coming over your house right now. Okay, bye.” Nicole hung up her phone and turned to Mary Cherry. “Let’s go.”

The Palace…

“Nicole’s coming over,” Brooke said to Sam.

“Then I’m leaving,” Sam said.

“I thought you two were getting along,” Brooke said.

“You thought wrong,” Sam said.

“I guess I can’t force you guys to be friends,” Brooke said. “At least I tried.”

“Don’t worry,” Sam said. “I kind of get along with Mary Cherry.”

“Are you seriously leaving if she comes here?” Brooke asked.

“Yeah,” Sam said. “I’ll go to Harrison’s house.”

“Okay,” Brooke said.

“I need to speak to my mom and then I‘ll head out,” Sam kissed Brooke and got off of the bed.

Sam found her mom in the basement putting clothes in the washing machine. “Mom, I have something to ask you.”

“Is something wrong?” Jane asked.

“Yeah,” Sam said.

Jane gave her daughter her full attention.

“Nicole’s been all touchy feely with me as of late,” Sam said. “When we’re alone she won’t keep her hands off of me. I want to tell Brooke but I don‘t want a bunch of drama happening.”

“Nicole is probably one of those girls who likes stealing her friend’s boyfriends… or in this case girlfriend,” Jane said. “You should tell Brooke as soon as possible. The longer you wait to tell her the angrier she’ll be when she finds out.”

“You’re right,” Sam said. “Nicole’s coming over right now so I’m going to Harrison’s. I’ll tell her when I get back. Thanks mom.”

“Anytime honey,” Jane said. “I’m glad you came to talk to me. I was starting to think we lost our mother, daughter bond that we used to share.”

Sam suddenly felt guilty about lying to her mom about her and Brooke not having sex together but she decided to save that conversation for a rainy day.

Nicole and Mary Cherry had just entered the Palace a few seconds ago and were now in Brooke’s room.

“So what’d you want to tell me?” Brooke asked.

Nicole held both of Brooke’s hands in hers. “I know this may come as a shock and I hate to tell you this but Spam’s been trying to get with me behind your back. She even kissed me but I did not kiss back.”

“What?” Brooke pulled her hands out of Nicole’s. “What are you talking about?”

“Samantha is tryin’ to get jiggy with Nicole,” Mary Cherry said. “I saw her all over her the other day.”

“Why didn’t you tell me this sooner?” Brooke asked.

“I didn’t know how to tell you,” Nicole said. “It’s not easy to tell your best friend that the one she loves is messing around behind her back. And she’s probably cheated on you with more people too.”

Brooke got off her bed and grabbed her car keys. “I have to go talk to Sam.”

Chapter Seven

Harrison, Sam, Lily, and Carmen were in Harrison’s room when the doorbell rang. Harrison left to answer it and returned with Brooke behind him.

“What are you doing here?” Sam asked.

“Nicole told me that you’ve been trying to get with her,” Brooke said.

“What?” Sam jumped off of Harrison’s bed. “I have not been trying to get with Nicole. She’s lying. She’s the one that’s been coming on to me. I would’ve told you sooner but I was afraid you’d believe her over me.”

“I believe you,” Brooke said. “I didn’t believe a word she said when she told me.”

Sam sighed a breath of relief.

“I am mad you didn’t tell me though,” Brooke said. “But right now we need to deal with Nicole.”

“How do you plan on doing that?” Harrison asked.

“Play with her a bit,” Brooke smiled.

“This should be fun,” Lily grinned.

Kennedy High the next day…

Nicole walked over to Brooke’s locker and greeted her friend. “How are you?”

“I’m fine,” Brooke replied dully.

“You don’t sound fine,” Nicole said.

“I broke up with Sam,” Brooke said. “It’s kind of hard seeing her everyday, you know, since we live together and all.”

“Yeah, that must be hard,” Nicole said. “How’d Sam take it?”

“She was upset,” Brooke said. “She tried to say you were the one hitting on her but I know you wouldn’t do that to me.”

“You’re right,” Nicole said.

“Anyway, enough about Sam,” Brooke said. “What do you want to do today?”

“I’m pretty busy today,” Nicole said. “We’ll hang tomorrow.”

“Okay,” Brooke said. “I’m gonna head to class. I’ll see you later.”

Brooke left and Nicole smiled to herself. “I should go pay Sam a little visit.”

Sam was leaving her locker when Nicole approached her.

“What the hell do you want?” Sam asked angrily.

“Brooke told me she broke up with you,” Nicole began. “I just wanted to make sure you were doing okay.”

“Go to Hell,” Sam spat as she tried to get by Nicole.

Nicole stopped her from passing her and continued to talk. “I know you’re upset right now but maybe we could go out sometime.”

“You and me?” Sam laughed. “You ruined my relationship with Brooke. Why would I want to go on a date with you? I don’t even like you.”

“You say that now but give us a chance,” Nicole said.

Sam shook her head and this time Nicole allowed her to pass.

“Damn it,” Nicole said. “I’ll just try again later.”

Brooke was in the Novak with Sam, Lily, and Carmen discussing their next plan.

“So you want me to go out on a date with her?” Sam asked. “Do I have to?”

“Yes,” Brooke said. “And then I’ll show up and we’ll have this big fight and we’ll see what happens from there.”

Nicole walked into the Novak and looked around. “What’s going on here?”

“This bitch is trying to get back with me,” Brooke said referring to Sam.

“Bitch?” Sam said. “If anyone’s a bitch here it’s you for believing Nicole over me.”

“Sam, maybe we should go,” Carmen said.

“No,” Sam said. “Nicole, tell Brooke what really happened.”

“I did,” Nicole said. “You made a move on me.”

Sam tried to attack Nicole but Lily stopped her. “Let’s just go.”

Sam left the Novak and her friends left with her.

“Sam really needs to accept the fact that she messed up,” Nicole said.

Brooke really wanted to hurt Nicole right now but she played it cool. “I know. She’s getting on my nerves.”

“Forget about her,” Nicole said. “There are plenty of other guys who want you.”

“Yeah, you’re right,” Brooke said. “Maybe I’ll get back with Josh.”

“That’s great,” Nicole said.

“I’m gonna go find him,” Brooke said.

“Okay, I’ll talk to you later,” Nicole said.

Brooke left the Novak and Nicole smiled. “Now that Brooke’s out of the way I can try to get Sam to fall for me.”

Sam walked into her room and saw Brooke reading her diary. “What the hell are you doing?”

“I’m… your home early,” Brooke said. “I thought you were staying at school late.”

“Answer my question,” Sam ordered.

“I wanted to know if you were happy with me,” Brooke said quietly.

Sam’s anger subsided and she went to sit next to Brooke. “Of course I am. What makes you think I‘m not?”

“I don’t know,” Brooke shrugged. “Old insecurity’s.”

“I love you,” Sam said. “I always will. You have nothing to worry about.”

Brooke leaned in to kiss Sam. “Love you too.”

They kissed again and Sam pushed Brooke back so that she was lying down. Sam got on top of her and kissed Brooke along her jaw. Jane walked into Sam’s room and cleared her throat.

Sam looked over at her door and saw her mom. “Uh oh.”

Chapter Eight

“I can’t believe you two lied to me about being active,” Jane said.

Brooke and Sam were sitting on the edge of the bed as Jane paced around.

“It’s not exactly something we’d want to talk about with our parents,” Brooke said.

“Yeah mom,” Sam said. “It’s embarrassing. If you were our age would you want to tell your mom you were screwing someone?

“Screwing?” Brooke repeated.

“Making love,” Sam corrected herself.

“OhmyGod,” Brooke exclaimed. “Are you going to tell my dad?”

“No,” Jane said. “But if you two are going to be doing this I want you to be safe about it.”

“Okay,” Sam said.

The phone rang and Sam was glad. She answered it and it was Nicole.

“Is Brooke there?” Nicole asked.

Sam hung up the phone. “It was Satan. She’ll call back.”

“If she asks you out accept,” Brooke said.

“What?” Jane asked confused.

“Come with me,” Brooke said getting up. “I’ll fill you in.”

The phone rang again and Sam answered it.

“Don’t hang up,” Nicole said quickly.

“What do you want?” Sam asked.

“Do you want to go out with me?” Nicole asked. “We can have fun together.”

“Uh… no,” Sam said.

“Oh come on,” Nicole said.

“You made Brooke break up with me,” Sam said.

“I didn’t make her do anything,” Nicole said. “She chose to break up with you.”

“Because of you,” Sam pointed out.

“She wasn’t right for you anyway,” Nicole said. “Give us a shot.”

“Fine,” Sam said. “If it’ll get you to shut up.”

After Nicole told Sam where they were going to have dinner and when she hung up the phone. Sam decided to go tell Brooke the news.

Brooke was in the living room watching TV and eating Doritos when Sam walked in. Sam plopped down next to Brooke and reached into the bag but there was nothing in there.

“Sorry,” Brooke said. “You can lick my fingers.”

Sam took Brooke’s hand and sucked her fingers clean. “I have a date with Satan tonight.”

“Where are you going?” Brooke asked.

“Applebee’s,” Sam replied.

“I’ll be there,” Brooke said. “What time?”

“Seven-ish. What am I going to wear?” Sam asked in a high-pitched girly voice.

“Nothing sexy,” Brooke replied. “Should I bring Josh?”

“For what?” Sam asked.

“To make Nic think I’m with him,” Brooke said.

“Okay. Where’d my mom go?” Sam asked.

“To sleep,” Brooke said. “So did my dad.”

“We have some time before I have to go,” Sam said.

“We should go make use of that time,” Brooke smirked.

Sam and Nicole were sitting in the restaurant. Neither of them had ordered yet. Nicole was doing most of the talking (about her self) and Sam was just waiting for Brooke to show up.

“Ready to order?” Nicole asked.

“No,” Sam said. “Let’s wait awhile more.”

“Wait for what?” Nicole asked. “Let’s just eat.”

“I want to wait,” Sam said.

Nicole rolled her eyes. “Fine.”

“So you like me?” Sam asked.

“Yeah,” Nicole nodded.

“Why?” Sam asked.

“You’re…. I don’t know. I just do,” Nicole said.

“You like me because Brooke’s dating me… was dating me until you interfered,” Sam said.

“Let’s not talk about Brooke now,” Nicole said.

Sam looked over at the entrance and saw Brooke entering with Josh. As they were walking by the table Brooke pretended to be shocked to see them.

“What are you two doing here… together?” Brooke asked.

“We’re on a date,” Nicole replied.

“I don’t believe this,” Brooke said.

“You’re with Josh now,” Nicole said.

“Yeah Brooke,” Josh said. “Forget about Nicole and Sam. We are good together. I would never cheat on you like Sam did.”

“I didn’t cheat,” Sam said.

“Can you two go away now?” Nicole asked. “I wanna get dinner and leave so I can get to the good part of the date.” Nicole winked at Brooke.

“You slut,” Brooke said.

“That’s me,” Nicole said. “I got your girl. Get over it.”

“Actually,” Sam said getting up. “You don’t.” Sam stood by Brooke and clasped their hands together.

“What’s this?” Nicole asked.

“Sam and I are still together,” Brooke said. “We played you.”

“I can’t believe you did this,” Nicole said.

“And I can’t believe you would try to steal Sam from me,” Brooke said. “Well actually I do. You always wanted what you couldn’t have.”

“I’m tired of you always being the best and me being second best,” Nicole said. “Cheerleading captain, most popular, most beautiful, always the best.”

“I practically let you take control over the Glamazons and it’s not my fault people label me as popular and you as quote “second best.” Can’t you just accept the way things are and let that be enough?”

“I’m so out of here,” Nicole said getting up.

“Mission accomplished,” Sam smiled. “Do you two want to stay and have dinner?” Sam asked.

“It’s alright,” Josh said. “I’ll let you two have your alone time.”

“No, have dinner with us,” Brooke said.

“Are you sure?” Josh asked.

“Yeah,” Sam said. “I’ll even call the others to join us.”

“Okay, cool,” Josh said.

Chapter Nine

At Kennedy High the next day Brooke was with Sam in the cafeteria sitting with the brunette’s friends.

“So you haven’t spoken a word to each other?” Carmen asked.

“Nope,” Brooke replied.

Mary Cherry came up to their table. “Hey y’all. Brooke, I just want ya to know that Nicole tricked me into telling you Sam cheated on you.”

“Mary Cherry, you’re a loser,” Lily said.

“I think it’d be better for everyone if you stayed friends with Nicole,” Brooke said.

“But-” Mary Cherry began.

“Bye Mary Cherry,” Brooke said dismissively.

Mary Cherry pouted and went over to Nicole. “Brookie has disowned us. I tried to get her to forgive ya but she won’t listen.”

“I don’t care,” Nicole lied. “Let’s just go.”

“Where?” Mary Cherry asked.

“Somewhere not here,” Nicole said.

Brooke watched her ex-friends leave and sighed.

“Don’t tell me you miss them,” Sam said.

“Actually, I kinda do,” Brooke said.

Brooke was in her room packing up the things she had borrowed from Nicole so she could return them. She was sad that she lost her not so good best friend but maybe it was a good thing that she finally rid herself of her. Nicole always brought her down and acted like a bitch, but Nic did have a nice side to her. Sam walked into Brooke’s room and sat down on her bed.

“Are you okay?” Sam asked.

“Yeah,” Brooke said.

“You know my friends are your friends too,” Sam said. “Don’t fret over losing Satan.”

“I want to hate her. I’m almost glad we’re not friends anymore. One huge weight off of my shoulders. It’s just that we’ve been through a lot together and I’d miss her mean, but sometimes funny remarks,” Brooke explained.

“I understand,” Sam said. “You should talk to her. Call her or something.”

Brooke was about to pick up her phone to call Nicole when the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it.” The blonde went downstairs and opened the door.

“Hey,” Nicole said.

“Hi,” Brooke said. “What are you doing here?”

“I was in the neighborhood,” Nicole replied.

“Oh,” Brooke said. “Did you come to get your things?”

“No,” Nicole said. “You can keep them.”

“Okay, thanks,” Brooke said.

They stood there for awhile in silence until Nicole spoke up.

“Look B, I’m sorry,” Nicole said. “You were right when you said I want what I can’t have. And I was wrong for trying to steal Sam away from you. I guess I was just jealous. And I realized something yesterday. I know this may be a little much to take in but I’m going to say it anyway so it won’t be bothering me as much.”

“Should I sit down for this?” Brooke asked.

“That’d be a good idea,” Nicole said.

The two girls went to the living room and sat down.

“I thought I liked Josh but I really didn’t and I thought I really liked Sam but I don’t. Brooke, the only reason I wanted either of them is because they’ve been with you.”

“I’m not following,” Brooke said.

“You slept with Josh so I thought if I slept with him it’d be like sleeping with you,” Nicole explained. “So I wanted to be with Sam because she’s been with you.”

Brooke was in shock. She didn’t know what to say. She was freaked out. Nicole Julian was crushing on her. It was kind of disturbing. “I-I uh… wow.”

“I know you don’t share the same feelings and I hope we can still remain friends,” Nicole said. “And I’d appreciate it if you didn’t tell anyone about this little confession. And if you do I will deny, deny, deny.”

Brooke just nodded dumbly and got up when Nicole did.

“I should apologize to Spam… Sam also,” Nicole said.

“She’s upstairs in my room,” Brooke said.

Nicole went upstairs and found Sam going through the box with her belongings that Brooke had packed up.

“Why are you here?” Sam asked with disgust.

“I wanted to apologize,” Nicole said. “I’m sorry for what I did. I know that doesn’t help much but I am sorry.”

“Well… I guess I forgive you,” Sam said.

“I really hope I can get a solid friendship with Brooke and share that closeness you and your friends have with each other,” Nicole said. “I like how you guys always stick together no matter what.”

“Uh, thanks,” Sam said.

“I should get going,” Nicole said. “Bye.”

Nicole left the house and Brooke came back upstairs.

“Nicole seems different,” Sam said. “I still don’t like her though.”

“I have a feeling she might become a better person,” Brooke said.

“Psssh,” Sam shook her head. “Nicole will never change.”

“Who the hell dressed you this morning?” Nicole asked April Tuna. “You don’t match, you’re wearing fake Prada shoes and don’t try to tell me you’re not. And don’t even get me started on your make-up. Just get out of my sight.” It was the next day at Kennedy High and Nicole was back to her usual bitchy self.

Brooke watched her from her locker. “I could’ve sworn she was a brand new person yesterday.”

“Like I told you,” Sam said. “Nicole doesn’t change. I was right and you were wrong. Say it.”

Brooke smirked. “I was right. You were wrong.”

“Very funny McQueen,” Sam said. “I heard there’s a new couch in the Novak. Wanna take it for a test run?”

“I’m so there,” Brooke said as her and Sam headed for the Novak.
