Alki's 'In Blue' Challenge #6- Radio

Fandom: Birds of Prey
Pairing: Post Helena/Barbara
Disclaimer: I don't own anythin', swear it.
Author's Note: I had to shape Barbara to fit the song a little bit, but I put it in Dinah's PoV.
She's restless. It's late at night, and she's feeling down. Nothing new. Doesn't help that we're at her apartment because being in the Clocktower hurts her. Too many memories of you there, see. She's on the balcony now, and though the door is closed behind her, even I could hear the giggly woman being felt up by her boyfriend. That used to be you two. I've walked in on two much in all that time to know, not that I purposely ever listened for that stuff. It hurts to see the look on her face as she comes back inside and gets her now nightly glass of wine. Fitting for her, I'd say. She offers me a glass, and for a moment I've forgotten that I am of age. Funny, I waited so long to be legal, but after Gabby gave me rum, I wondered what the hell was wrong with her. 'Acquired taste' my ass. I shake my head this time. With a full glass and an empty heart she searches for something to occupy her mind. Gabby's on sweeps tonight as I finish my finals paper, and I tag team at midnight so she can finish hers. My comm. is open just in case, and she gives a blow by blow of what to expect; being new to this and sort of in training still is making her nervous. My costume is on as well for a quick switch, and I look like a dork this way, but I have to be prepared. It's been over a year, Helena, and you're still tangled in her dreams. I hear her sometimes.
I can't listen to the radio when she is in the same area as me because she cries at songs of yesterday. Somehow they all remind her of you. All of them. Somehow. I don't know. Just want to say you such, Helena. That's all, really. All that time you promised you'd never be like your father, all that grumbling about 'daddy issues'? BULLSHIT! You're more like him than you ever wanted to be, and I hope you can't sleep at night knowing that. I dare you to come back here for a moment and look at what you left behind, the lives who depend on you and your powers where Gabby and my powers can't help them. Isn't that what you've always wanted to say to Batman? Well, 'mighty' Huntress, get your ass back here and look at what you left! I thought you were so great, that I wanted to be just like you, but I was so young- nine, I think. What the hell did I know?

The Corrs Lyrics
"The Corrs Radio lyrics"
It's late at night
And I'm feeling down
There're couples standing on the street
Sharing summer kisses and silly sounds
So I step inside
Pour a glass of wine
With a full glass and an empty heart
I search for something to occupy my mind
But you are in my head
Swimming forever in my head
Tangled in my dreams
Swimming forever
So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
Remember where we used to go...
Now it's morning light
And it's cold outside
Caught up in a distant dream
I turn and think that you are by my side
So I leave my bed
And I try to dress
Wondering why my mind plays tricks
And fools me into thinking you are there
But you're just in my head
Swimming forever in my head
Not lying in my bed
Just swimming forever
So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
Remember where we used to go...
I listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
I listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
Remember where we used to go...
You are in my head
Swimming forever in my head
Tangled in my dreams
Swimming forever
(Swimming forever)
Swimming forever
So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
Remember where we used to go...
I listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
I listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
